It's just you.

Balance Discussion / Re: why do people need to win so much?

I sorta-kinda agree with this post. Yes, people need to stop complaining about stupid crap, but with the release of the recent patches it does seem the Soviets have been nerfed to a certain extent. People have a comfort zone when playing games... For instance, many enjoyed spamming Ingenery at the start of a match, now it seems like they take forever to build.

Red Army Suggestions / Sniper Ace

Short and to the point- The Sniper Ace, because of his MP, CP, and Pop. count cost, should come with the Artillery Spotter upgrade already upgraded.

1)Don't spread your forces too thin early on. Isolated soviet squads will even go down to a bike. Send cheapest most ependable unit to cap isolated points.
2)Keep 3 conscripts with the command squad and move in force
3)Never leave AT guns/mortars alone and move them all the time. If they counter arty you then you can't just recrew it.
4)Use expendable conscripts(no pop cap) to capture/hold buildings to gain/keep map awareness and hold up your oponent.
5) Tanks are good but you need solid infantry support so don't forget infantry upgrades. Combined forces are always better.
6)Complement T34s with SUs and infantry
7)Keep up the pressure always like you would when playing PE/US

QFT - Sitting back and hording resources with the Soviets will get you raped rather quickly... The player needs to continuously throw some sort of infantry or armor to busy the PE/Wehr player.

Strategy and Tactics / Re: Sniper Ace Stratergies

The fact the other player needs to micro 2 bikes to hunt down 1 sniper is a good thing. By the time I get a Sniper Ace, I usually have more than enough manpower to replace him in the unlikely case he dies. My last match I got 92 kills (90 infantry, and 2 light vehicles) before a random nebel and StuH ended his life. He sat near the German base unloading arty and killing groups of grenadiers. I also realized he doesn't leave a 'trace' of his rounds, making it that much harder for enemies to spot him. I've done some testing with him, and he can get very close to enemies without being spotted- He really is the best recon anti-infantry in EF.

He also recamos immediately after firing, not even requiring you to move him. I've found on large maps I can essentially create a choke point with a Sniper Ace and a 1 or 2 sharpshooter teams.

Red Army Suggestions / Re: A method to secure territory?
« on: January 23, 2010, 11:31:18 PM »
No, no, no, no and no. The whole reason they cannot capture territory is part of the 'historical' aspect- That and the Soviets don't need to be OP'd even further.

Russians were the first to use gliders effectively in combat. Though this would cause all Brit players to scream bloody murder if a glider was ever within the Soviet's reach.

I disagree, using conscripts to get killed and cause a distraction is useful- They give you XP and divert attention away from your main force. On big maps, they can also capture territories so that you don't have to send Strekly or Guards to do it.

Balance Discussion / Abilities/Effects
« on: January 23, 2010, 11:14:28 PM »
I like the arty that the Coms. can use. I do not, however, like that fact that it is free. I feel that all abilities and effects should either- Remain free with a very high cool down timer, or cost a high amount of resources. For instance- The Guards anti-tank grenade is very powerful, yet has a small cool down compared to that of any other faction's abilities. Thoughs on this?

Ah, didn't know, sorry :p

Bugs & Tech Support / Re: Soviets able to pick-up German weaponry?

Ah never mind, I was under the impression they could not pick-up/crew any sort of weapon.

Wait, is the Panzershreck considered 'light'?

Keep it coming guys, I will be updating this with the most common complaints- I agree with Detrian, the Partisans are essentially commandos that are cheaper and easier to get (first unlock in the doctrine). I feel Sniper Ace is expensive, and takes awhile to unlock. Doesn't need a nerf, but limit them to 1 on the field at any given time.

- If using Urban Support doctrine, use your resources to get the Sniper Ace ASAP- In cramped maps, it will destroy your opponents infantry.
