"Otto Carius was a German tanker ace of WW2, fighting on the Panzer 38t, Tiger and finally the Jagdtiger. It is estimated that during the war, Carius’ crew managed to knock out 150 enemy vehicles and many more soft targets and AT guns. He survived the fighting and after the war, he opened a pharmacy called Tiger-Apotheke, that exists to this day. He is best known for writing a book of his memories about fighting on the Tiger, called “Tigers in the mud”."

Rest in peace, kinda sad to see all the veterans passing away

It looks like Relic is starting a beta test for the original company of heroes, in order to fix bugs and bring new multiplayer features back to it

I would reccommend people join the beta so we can help Relic out and bring CoH1 back to its former glory :)

Hello, i just found out that me and my family will be traveling to Germany June next year to visit some relatives, and this will be the first time i have ever visited Germany!

Since i know a lot of you here live in or near Germany, i was wondering if you can tell me some interesting places to visit while im there, best to start making plans early :)

Well, from what I can gather from this article, the COH online multiplayer will be switching to a new service called steamworks. seeing that steamworks is powered by valve gives me hope that online multiplayer may be much better.

Hi, after ready a few creepypastas, i stumbled upon some funny ones called soviet creepypasta's

Basically, they are scary stories, but with a funny soviet twist and sometimes a bit of dark humor. Just search soviet creepypasta and you will find more

KGB kick down door and destroy monkey paw. They say "Your son says you worship monkey god. Religion is enemy of worker. Atheism is only scientific truth."

Yevdokya then sent to labor camps for where her dangerous superstitions could not infect loyal soviet worker. She never see son or KGB again.

Hello everyone.

I decided to make this thread to make it easier to ask and get questions on World War II answered. I decided to make this thread after seeing many small history related questions scattered throughout the fourm, so why not make a thread to all of those little questions people have.

While im certainly not an expert, i and anyone else willing to contribute will try to answer questions as best as possible. They can be anything as long as its related to world war II, including things such as politics during the war, life during the war, weaponry and technology (both are my favorite!).

Right now there are no rules to asking questions right now (other than them being WWII related). so feel free to ask, and anyone who feels like they know the answer to a question is free to share their answers as well.

Us devs would like to get an opinion on what the community thinks about the OBR. right now we have noticed that it is barely used, which tells us something is wrong.

a thread to post interesting pictures and their descriptions, i have a whole folder full of interesting pictures


first photo is of a captured KV2 with a commanders cupola installed on it by the germans

second photo, a german halftrack that has both wufrahmen rockets and a 37mm cannon, an interesting combination

third photo, a cromwell turret used as a fortification, cant remember if it was a german captured one or if it was british

4th photo, an interesting one, where a t34 rocket launcher was mounted on a captured german halftrack, the halftrack was then towed into place and the rocket laucher fired at the enemy. the elevation was controlled by that elevation mechanisms of a pak40 lol


5th photo, a staghound mounting rockets, it was used operationally very late into the waye

6th photo. a heavilly modified panzerIV turret which mounted a russian 76mm field gun be used as a pillbox

7th photo, i remember someone saying that the armor of the king tiger was never penetrated frontally, heres proof otherwise. i beleive it was an su100 that knocked it out

8th photo, king tiger that was knocked out, more details in photo

9th photo, king tiger ( a rare heschell model) , knocked out by a 2in mortar, a very lucky hit

10th photo description "That tank apparently blew up after being hit, which cause the superstructure to be ripped off, landing to the left of he vehicle (barely visible on the photo, and the turret to fly into the air, turning up-side-down mid-air, and landing back on the tanks hull."

11th photo, damage by IS2 rounds against a tigers front glacis plate

12 photo: "A soldier in the tank recovery section of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) examines damage inflicted by an 88mm anti-tank gun to the barrel of a Sherman tank, which is about to be recovered from the battlefield, October 1942. Another shell hit can be seen on the side of the turret. The tank and crew survived."

In order to help with crashes or other odd behavior caused by the ai, please upload the AI log files that are generated after every game

these can be found in the common folder under steamapps, usually located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common


the files are named AI_LogFile. if there are multiple files, please upload all of them

I spoke with blackbishop today and he said i should apply for being the new AI coder

I have been experimenting and working around with the ai for a little bit, and i know the basics of how the ai works and i am able to apply ai behavior to new units as well. you can see the proof of my work in this thread

-soviet infantry will use grenades are satchel charges more smartly (no more throwing AT grenades at infantry)
-officer squad should not suicide charge to shoot a barrage (also applies to snipers)
-ai should (hopefully) not suicide Katusha after firing them

-partisans should (hopefully) use booby traps
