General Discussion / Will we Ever get Foreign Troops for Ostheer?
« on: July 21, 2014, 05:58:17 AM »
One of the most anticipated aspects for the Ostheer faction for me was the inclusion of foreign support (Hungarian/Romanian) troops.  I was wondering if anyone knows if this will still be added to the Ostheer either as a section of the command tree or as a bonus unlock like the old British Royal Marines used to be?

Eastern Front / Most epic tank battle in military history
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:27:17 AM »
Ok here is one.  What would you consider to be the most epic tank battle in military history?  The Battle of Kursk is considered by many to be the largest in WWII.  I have also heard that the Iran Iraq war in the 1980's had some of the largest meeting engagements after WWII.  Any thoughts?

Eastern Front / Re: who the best special force/elites?
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:06:03 AM »
A rather obscure special forces/elite unit that fought in the eastern front was the Italian Bersaglieri.  This was a corps of elite light infantry regiments that fought with the Italian 8th army until it was virtually destroyed by the Dom River during the battle of Stalingrad in 1943.  The Italian's played a surprisingly large role in the early years of the this conflict and I find them interesting because they don't get very much attention.

Hello I have noticed that there is an error in the 8 player Rostov map.  There is a blue box with an error message on it on the bf109 in the middle of the airfield.  Has anyone else encountered this?  It seems like it should be a pretty quick fix for the next patch.  Or maybe it's an error specific to me somehow.  Any insight? Thank you!

General Discussion / Fiat L6 and Italian troops screenshot?
« on: January 11, 2013, 11:13:13 PM »

I was just wondering if we could get treated to a screenshot of the Italian infantry next to their support tanks if the skins for them have been completed yet?  It is very exciting that another nation will have infantry models represented for the Axis Powers in EF finally!  Good work!

Is the thread for registering in the upcoming tournament up?  I am a bit of a noob at these tournaments and some simple instructions to ensure I get in and how it works between the forum and the game would be helpful!  Thank you!  As for my name I am lukeski and want my multiplier name to be XXX Corps

The berge can be extremely good in certain situations. It especially shines in team games or when you have Panthers, Hummels or a Jagdpanther. Don't even try to rebuild units on the front line. Rather, keep your berge back so he doesn't know you even have one and only rebuild out of his LoS. If you do that, he won't know to destroy the wrecks. If you do want to recover something on the front line, do a massive push combined with a henschel or something to force him back while you do the repairs. Repairing under fire is just an easy way to make an expensive scrap heap. Used properly, the berge can win games.

I agree with Godlike Dennis.  The Berge's utility is indeed only suited for a specific niche behind the front lines and is best kept out of the enemy los.  It can be worth it as it can save a lot of resources when you are using Panthers and have lost them as opposed to rebuilding new tanks.  Useless in combat situations and really only useful if you control most of the map.

Dev / Need Beta Testers or Javascript programmer?
« on: December 30, 2012, 02:40:18 AM »
Hi EF crew!  Just wanted to show my support of this amazing mod!  I have a couple of weeks off of work and if you need any meticulous beta testers or some light javascript programming let me know!  I am anxiously awaiting Ostheer and am more excited about this content than the release of COHII!

You guys working on a new Stalingrad map?

The current 6 player one was very disappointing tbh (lack of apartment urban residential areas and no river/bridge)

Wrong. It's finished already! :P

The new one doesn't offer a bridge either (there was no bridge across the Volga..). You will find some residential areas though.

Simply beautiful work all around; the commitment to historical accuracy in regards to the maps and units and equipment is worthy of accolades! I don't think that the crew making cohII will even live up to it!  If you need any work done programming wise I am fluent with Javascript and have some time off!

General Discussion / Updated but can't get on games! Help!
« on: October 06, 2012, 12:26:09 AM »
Hello, I am updated to vs. for Eastern Front but when I go into the lobby and look for available games I am not able to join them.  What is the most likely reason for this?  An additional mod being ran by most EF users?  I map pack being commonly used that I don't know about?  Any advice to get me back in the game is welcome!  Thank you!

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: Summary of the Ostheer sneaks Foreign Troops?
« on: August 31, 2012, 08:49:15 AM »
I have to say that the option to choose a doctrine involving the use of foreign troops for the Ostheer (Romanians, Hungarians) is probably one of the most exciting elements that adds some interesting historical flavor to the gameplay.  Any way that we can get a mild teaser regarding this?
