General Discussion / Re: v1.6 Tank Riders

i think he means that it unlocks a more expensive tank rider call-in...

Wait, I thought T-34s in WWII had a manual turret traverse. It says on wikipedia that the 1945 late version was updated with an electric traverse.

Mapping / Re: Map idea: Flaktum

I like the idea of putting it SOMEWHERE in the map. Maybe also make it a reinforcement point?

A few ideas ostheer and soviets

Sturmtiger reward unit for brumbar. Slightly more expensive and slower. (or grille which would be cheaper as it is mroe thinly armored but have even firepower.)

Reward unit for the artillery firebase of the soviets. The 200mm howitzer.

More expensive, slower turning, slower firing BUT higher range and much higher damage and vehicle damage.

Eastern Front / Re: T-34 hull mounted machine gun movement?
« on: March 07, 2012, 12:28:33 AM »
i wouldnt know. ask a ww2 tank history buff.

He was asking anyone that knew...

Anyways, the 7.62mm DTM was ball-mounted and had an armoured guard protecting it.

Thank you. Also, is the co-axial to the right or left of the main gun? i have a plastic model and to the right (from the front facing you view) is an ovalish hole and to the left is a smaller hole. Also, do co-axial machine guns have any traverse at all or is it dependent upon the turret traverse? Also, the T-34 was I presume, manual traverse, right?

Eastern Front / T-34 hull mounted machine gun movement?
« on: March 06, 2012, 09:47:00 PM »
Just wondering, how does its hull mounted machine gun traverse to the left, right, up, or down? german tanks seem to have a ball mount, but I can't see how the hull mounted gun on the T-34 would function. Any help please?

Balance Discussion / Re: T-70 and T-90
« on: March 06, 2012, 01:39:38 PM »
Ok but what are T-70s good against other than what an M8 is not even though m8s might be slightly worse? as far as I'm concerned, it can only do so much vs medium and heavy vehicles.

next, could you still put the T-60 in as a reward unit?

Yeah, cheap as they are, katyushas are kind of lackluster. I think their rockets do less damage than callies as well and they shoot for a shorter period of time. I think the hardcap should be 4-5 and the spread reduced or damage increased slightly.

General Discussion / Krebscoho shoutcast request?
« on: March 06, 2012, 04:55:41 AM »
In case you haven't heard, krebscoho is a youtube channel dedicated to shoutcasts of many games including CoH. It occasionally showcases mods and I've asked him and he has said that he asked the Devs for a replay and that they were deciding which replay to put forth. This was over 3 weeks ago. Will there be a decision?

Balance Discussion / T-70 and T-90
« on: March 06, 2012, 04:53:00 AM »
I believe these to be the most lackluster units in the SU arsenal. They come out too late to fill their niche, and both are terrible against the things they are not designed counter. They are relatively expensive, and the T-70 is nothing more than an ATHT in tank form. T-70s are good against what... halftracks? By the time a T-70 is out, a wehr can easily have StuGs, Paks, and schreked grens. PE can have schreks and AT halftracks, maybe even marders. T-90s are only good against infantry but can't use speed to evade AT weapons quickly so that's out the window. Solutions?

1. decrease cost or decrease teching cost.

2. Increase effectiveness of T-70 vs infantry. Change T-90 to T-60 (20mm ShvAk autocannon. Many more T-60s were made than T-90s so I see this as reasonable) to give deadlier mid-long range firepower.

3. Give them a stationary camouflage ability like hetzers. There are many reports of T-60 and 70s ambushing german troops as they moved through wheat fields.

Thoughts? Am I just not using them right? Cause an M8 feels like a cheaper, stronger, faster to come out combination of the two.

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: Veterancy suggestion.
« on: March 06, 2012, 04:47:56 AM »
I would like if there was some more uniqueness in the vet upgrades. Instead of just "+x% in Y for vet 1 for units A,B,C, and D", something more unit specific like further mortar range and splash or no sniper bullet trail at vet 3, stuff like that.

You should try it while you can, it is going to be removed in the next released patch.

Yes but for the love off god don't do it in a PvP game unless they are okay with it. Its not fun to sit there watching your base explode in 10 seconds ::) (I have experienced it)

;D funny thing you mention that... :P

Tell the katyusha to attack ground. it can fire like 400 meters and in a continuous barrage, no breaks. SO awesome. 2v2s it gets you vet 3 in about a minute. Next minute, you're destroying their base form your base

@Monos: Are you Pie ???

@Bopokippo: Honestly if you cant kill a calliope with 2 Panthers thats all on you. And just like any arty if you keeping mvoing you wont tank AS much damage. I mean you can always disable its treads.

But then the panthers get stuck between a rock and a hard place. See, if your panthers try to move back, then they go slower and allow riflemen to sticky them as unsupported panthers (and they WILL be unsupported at a minimum with proper calliope usage to kill PGs and light vehicles) kinda are terrible vs infantry. I would bet that panthers are probably the best shot a PE has but honestly I think the only real chance is some kind of precise timing attack right after a barrage but if the enemy has two calliopes, that window becomes very small or even nonexistant.
