Hi guys

Another night, another crash and it's been a while since I posted some files here so thought I'd do the right thing...

Last night's game was 2 humans versus 2 normal AI.  Both humans playing Russians.  Map was Lyon.  It died in the heat of a battle with so much going on I can't nominate what specific action was immediately before the game failed.  Symptom was the usual hang, with audio in a tight loop. 

Diagnostic & warning files attached, and again the warnings.log has 6 warnings a second for a big long time.

That's 10 minutes of exceptions before it dies a death.

Also, for what it's worth, this block of errors seems to show the mod looking in the wrong place for a bunch of paths...

These directories all belong under D:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes, not D:\My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes...

Are we getting any nearer a resolution?  I'd be happy to run a debug build that writes a more verbose warning file if that will help.  I know there are others who would also, if you want to go down that path.

I also agree Japanese would be an additional faction I'd be keen to see in CoH, and some of the suggestions above for doctrines sound sensational (so that's my +1) but I also agree with the other posters that Eastern Front is not the mod where the Japanese should be included.  I'm very much looking forward to seeing the Ostheer, therefore keeping this mod a self-contained European Eastern Front mod.

Thanks to MG4242 for pointing out the Pacific Thunder mod.  That made good reading, and I've turned on tracking to see what comes out of that.

Why can't You help me??
At this time the cause of the crashes are unknown.  The purpose of this thread is to get information on the situations we're crashing in so the mod team can see if it's anything they can assist with.  I'm sure your information will be helpful, but like the rest of us it's a mystery why this thing fails when it does.  Stay tuned !

I'm obviously not a historian, so can only speak from things I've read about this.  There was a belief from Japanese leadership that their country was under threat, that their supplies would be cut off, and therefore one way to protect against this was to create a so-called  "co-prosperity sphere" which was certainly imperialism and the goal of building an empire that essentially ran asia.

I do not know if you would classify Japanese motivation as a people as patriotism as they were fighting for a god in human form - their Emperor.  I find it difficult to understand that perspective, so apologies in advance if I've not explained it well.

What if Ostheer Luftwaffe doctrine had a plain  Bombing run, not the run like the US , but a "Carpet" bombing of a large area, you may say OP but if you consider the cost, and the FF posibilities, it may work.
Over a large area, do you mean much like Gods of War in the Russian propaganda doctrine?

Thats what Im saing. "AI and he was all around" the map. You had a long game becouse AI never made the final push with all af his unts into youre base.
If you watch a AI soviet replay youll see how many units on the field AI had and didnt use.
Sorry, still I disagree.  He was all around and inside my base, not all around the map.  It was a long game only because it was a struggle to get out of my corner.  But when I did he kept coming back in waves.

Maybe it's the map I was playing?  What you're suggesting is not what I typically see.

When I play vs AI soviets he just gathers around VPs and rarelly sends his units (just a small part of them) closer to my base. How is that aggressive?  ???
Gaining more resources is not being aggresive.

I also noticed AI building firebases allways in the same positions. Near VPs.
I only just beat a long game against AI and he was all around and in my base most of the game.  I can't comment for what you're seeing, only it's not my experience.

I love what this mod has done to the AI.  They're far more aggressive and a normal AI player is now a worthy adversary which means we have somewhere to aspire to.  I only launch CoH using the mod even if I'm going comp bashing as a consequence.

The only thing I've noticed is the mod's AI seems just as likely to build artillery as the standard CoH AI would, but they don't seem to use them?  We had a player drop the other night and when AI took over his patch he had a heap of pop tied up in 5 russian artillery bases, which the normal AI never fired for the rest of the game.

Don't know if that's intentional, a bug, or a legacy of something in the original CoH AI...but an observation.

I also note the mod's AI will (after firing a Kat at my base) drive the Kat into my base to be destroyed by MG fire.  It's probably the only truly silly thing I see it routinely do.

Back to the original reason for posting: I am a fan of the mod's AI.  It's made it a true alternative to playing humans imo.

maybe if it had the same Armour as a "Stuka Halftrack" could do the job ?
While I agree the Kat is a soft target, if we're going to be fair on the Stuka zu Fuss, it was based on the Sd.Kfz. 251 halftrack, which was covered in armored plating.  The stuka should in my view be a little easier to harm with arty and other weps from above (it was open topped after all) but it should be a harder target to take out than the kat since (as posted above) the kat was based on a regular truck.

Excellent call.  I did produce an AT gun (just 1) so that is probably what got counted as vehicle 3.

So Kats don't get counted as produced, but they do get counted when destroyed.

Hi

I'm not entirely certain I understand your question, but this mod will work with either the original CoH, or any of the expansions.  I've been playing it with both the Opposing Fronts & the Tales of Valor expansions.  The mod works with any/all/none of these expansions loaded, and you can use any of the standard CoH or expansion units, including the reward units in Eastern Front games.

Hope this answers what you need...
