Balance Discussion / Skirmish squad fire up

It appears that the "Fire up" ability is left out of the skirmish squad when the elite army troops doctrine is selected. All infantry squads BUT this one seems to have the ability. This might be for the sake of balance OR an oversight. I see that there is no harm to give it the fire up for one reason: In order to command the nearby troops, the squad must SPRINT alongside his fellow infantryman to maintain the radius of command.

Balance Discussion / heavy mortar range too large

Seriously, I set up an HQ that is in the middle of the map, yet a heavy mortar is able to bombard it literally across the map sitting inside of the base. Killed 43 of my guys before it moved out and I executed it,

title says all, I need to kill dozens of infantry for my landsers, brandenburgers, jagers, etc. just to reach vet 2/3, while other factions are able to do so much quicker. I do understand that the OST vet has more advantages such as the repair bonus or extra sight/cap, but still. US riflemen are capable of getting to vet 2 much quicker with around a dozen kills while it takes 2-3x more for the ostheer infantry.

So today there was a minor update to the game that didn't seem to do much. Now when I play EF the game randomly crashes.

So im guessing there is going to be an update soon?

Balance Discussion / Soviet vs Ost Ai

Currently it seems as if playing against the Soviets as Ostheer is extremely difficult while vice versa is too easy. I'm not sure whether it is the AI or the faction balance (though I notice Ostheer tend to do nothing early game but cap with sturmpios). Just for the laughs, I can play against expert Ostheer as soviets and spam+blob 15 squads of strelky w/ smgs over the course of the game and easily use pak 40 as AT. Playing against soviets as Ostheer is rather a challenge. Your thoughts?

Mapping / COH Worldbuilder NIS

It appears that my NIS tool in worldbuilder is unusable. All buttons are grayed out so there is nothing to be done. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there something I must download? I figured I could ask here to see if anyone else has this problem, as if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Occasionally when I do A skirmish vs Ostheer CPU, the AI doesn't seem to use its Sturmpioneers to build base structures right away. Instead, it uses the squads to cap points, and moments later it retreats and builds base buildings. The only units on the field would usually be 2 Sturmpioneers capping until they built the infantry gefects command later on.

Secondly, Ostheer Jagers retreat the same way like AI snipers. They will attack my squads until one bullet is fired in return, then they retreat immediatly, the same as when snipers auto retreat.

These are all the AI errors i encountered so far.

As a specialized AT-Infantry unit, Panzerjagers do a poor job at doing their job. The squad dies as fast as PE tank busters vs. Tanks, and their one and only Panzerschreck is 25% less effective than its Wehr/PE counterparts. To get another one of these lower quality schrecks, they first require a building upgrade initially, and 75 munitions (pretty poor cost, considering it costs the same as a Wehr Schreck and is less effective). The squad itself costs 320 manpower, which I consider to be too expensive. The unit has probably the poorest AI ability in the game, that they are not able to defend itself from any form of infantry. At least tank busters in groups can occasionally fend off a few engines or vanilla rifles on their own.

As a infantry unit that is designed to fight tanks, they could have their own armor type that makes them more resistant to tank fire. Accuracy should be tweaked a bit to make their schrecks fire more accurately and rapidly.

As if now, Jagers w/ tankbuster equipment are much more effective and cost effective in comparison.

Bugs & Tech Support / Problem with Multiplayer

I am having a bit of trouble playing online games with this mod.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled this mod, patching it up all the way, but I still have this problem.  A couple weeks ago I was invited to an EF match, but it states my mod is incompatible yet I have the game fully patched.  On top of that, all the times I had visited the multiplayer lobby ever since 1.7 (sad but true) no games ever showed up :(

Anyone else have this problem?

General Discussion / Older EF Versions Extending Before 2.602

Just wondering, I was decided to download the earlier versions of EF that were made before 2.602 patch came out, and when I enter a game on that certain version it just freezes.  Is there a way so that I can play the mod in early version while having it still patched up to 2.602?
