Balance Discussion / Re: Problems with USSR
« on: August 08, 2015, 06:12:34 PM »
Basically get what you meant. In certain sense it might be quite problematic on larger maps. But since that is its mechanicsm and the lower cost on reinforcing, you will need to utilize the medic truck near to any reinforce point, and when suffering from casualties, use the retreat to medic truck option to save your troops from being wiped out.

Even in fuel scarce maps, it should not so much issue since the only unit needs fuel for USSR are tanks and the medic truck only, so the selection of light or heavy tanks is quite important (which we say the implementation of strategy).

I wonder if this issue has been reported. Just for some heads on (2.602, not sure if it happens in 2.7).
Most weapon recrew have bugs. So far I have noticed:
- OH infantry attempt to recrew Soviet's AT will auto killed (after a brief red icon on the AT unit).
- PE cannot recrew Soviet MGs, and even if they do, if the unit is down to 1 men, you cannot do anything nor select the unit. (need to kill with grenade)
- Some infantry (Soviet, Wehr) can recrew the weapon but cannot reinforce crews. (Happened in AT and MG)

3
At least 2/3 Pio Squads, where 1 to build and 1 to capture + defense, and set up a bunker immediately on the important point, and usually go for snipers or MG/ Volks (vs Brits).

Get the Defensive upgrade ASAP so that you can reinforce and defend at the same time with bunker. And then one or two Pak when you are into T3. 2 Volks squad + bunkers in T2 is good enough for map control, and easy to annihilate units. If they happen to have MG, use a sniper in your roster too :D

Maybe when the vet and other issues fixed OH will become the slightly prominent faction too. :>

If Brits taking the Churchill path indeed it is quite devastating against infantry since both AVRE and Crocodile are very tough against AT infantry. US 105 has less frequency to pop up since they have halftrack that are pretty strong against infantry units too, and I would prefer M4 + halftrack to fight against infantry + tanks :>

Now even T90 also have the ROKS effect, so it is hard to see which are taking the upper hand now.

Haha, I think it is on the same game :> As it is true like darcreaver said that it is good at early tanks when Panzerbüchsen are used, but I see the function is similar to PTRS where they are quite good when they are in a group of 3 to against Cromwell/ Sherman as they don't have heavy anti infantry tanks like StuH. Basically if play with infantry squad one squad cannot take down a tank, even a fully equipped Panzershreck due to accuracy and tank damage to infantry. (Teatrch is pretty weak against infantry so I think it is Cromwell).

Generally, a offensive player will opt out the time to go back and heal, right? This makes Wehr has the upper hand as Wehr can use muni to heal outside the base, instead like OH to go back and heal again (which is providing disadvantage for scout and sniper units). If the Sector Heal is back it will be great, or at least have the similar function like PE or Soviets healing truck XD

I will also have a try on comparing the fuel needs for halftracks if I have the chance. I think if the healing/ reinforcing ability outside the camp it might make defensive play harder (even with Army Fortress) since 2 command points for defensive buildings and retreat and go back might let the particular sector that you are defending occupied (if there is no halftrack/ buildings). I am not sure how to play as offensive as I am more into defensive + artillery types :>

I think GoW is still the same right? Multiple artillery barrage (like 3-5 times than normal 280mm), and thats why it cannot fire directly to the base due to the frequency of fire, AoE and cooldown time (if I am correct GoW has 60 seconds firing time and then 180 seconds of cooling down while 280mm have around 5 seconds firing time and then 30 seconds cooldown).

I think LeIG is same as 2.2 patch since LeIG uses range to cover the lack of the damage and portability by the normal mortar team.

Brits come up with tanks quite late somehow and they are more specialized to defensive operations though IMO XD
With the newer patch OH is also hard to play as defensive due to hard vet and healing issue where Wehr and PE have :> And the slow manuver of OH means that to utilize with the infantry AT ability is better (such as Landser with AT gun).

Halftrack comes in T3 which is a bit late compared to most others come from T2. Kugelblitz is in support mode right and Marder II has the long range and accuracy (and speed) which can make it as a semi aggresive unit, which Pak40 (no speed) lacks of.

Need mods to tell as they identified OH as offensive compared to Wehr, like PE (which means Wehr is more into defensive).

IMO, For offensive type, OH should have some sort of abilities like PE or Soviets so that the offensive ability can be utilized, such as Field Hospital reinforcements since forward barracks is not so useful for them.

And also don't forget he OH can now upgrade civilian buildings into forward barracks. Although this can be not useful on maps with no/few suitable buildings.

Yes, I also noticed that when I play a new game. If this option is available then it will be OK so that the reinforcing ability is at least on par with other vanila factions (but might be removed as mods said that OH is offensive except you are choosing Army Fortress). Suggestion: OH can have the ability similar to Soviets and perhaps using Opel Mauliter as reinforcement option since it also secure territory, as it is more into offensive play that is like Soviets where Soviets use the infantry tide strategy with this XD

Medic vet is gone. It's replaced by supply vet, which lowers reinforcement costs and ability costs.
The field hospital heals allied units when you build it in your base sector.

Hope there will be a temporary patch as the reinforcement bug for field hospital might affect gameplay a bit.
Which reinforcement bug?
Medic station/ Field hospital will be able to reinforce or not, seems it is a bit confusing on the descriptions too.

I think without the field hospital option, it makes it is not useful as offensive, as your reinforce option is only the halftrack, compared to Soviets (outpost upgrade outside base), US, Wehr, PE (barracks upgrade and halftrack), Brits (moveable HQ). PE is also offensive but seems that they have more reinforcement and healing options when it is compared with Ostheer.

Ostheer infantry is not that tough as PE in early to mid stage and with very limited reinforcement ability it makes that using Ostheer need to be a very advanced player.  The logistic upgrade will be less useful if there is no halftracks for them. My 2 cents :>

[...]
0 The Medic Upgrade for Landsers (and perhaps other infantries) are not available. I upgraded to Vet 2 and 3 and I still cannot see the medic bag.
0 The Sector Heal for Army Fortress (The the doctrine beside Panzernest) does not work, and the sector is not shown in green when you have Panzernest/ Field Hospital (except the HQ).
[...]
These were removed on purpose, so they aren't bugs.

I see, so it also means that the medic upgrade is no more for Ostheer except you choose the first doctrine right?

Hope there will be a temporary patch as the reinforcement bug for field hospital might affect gameplay a bit.

I also found some bugs:

- Snowman Grenadiers and Grenadiers (Wehr) has bug, where the first aid station produces grenadiers and the barracks provide snowman grenadiers, and grenadiers has no effect on the vet upgrade in Kampkraft Center (but the snowman does XD)
- Soviet's Katyusha sometimes cannot barrage, it shows that 'Ability is active' but it is not firing. (1 out of 4 Katyushas)

Hope it helps :>

Hi all,

First off, thanks so much for the mods on making the release! I will be reporting some bugs that I found as Ostheer (Army Fortress Sections) I am using 2.602.

- Bugs
0 The Medic Upgrade for Landsers (and perhaps other infantries) are not available. I upgraded to Vet 2 and 3 and I still cannot see the medic bag.
0 The Sector Heal for Army Fortress (The the doctrine beside Panzernest) does not work, and the sector is not shown in green when you have Panzernest/ Field Hospital (except the HQ).
0 Field Hospitals cannot reinforce units.

- Not bug
0 I wonder, is the AT Grenade (Half-something) is no more, is it?

- Typing Error/ Blank
I think the error on typing or BLANK does not affect the gameplay that much, just for information :>

= Artillery Barrage (the middle doctrine) is BLANK.
= Most doctrines branch is BLANK.

Maybe there are some others but so far I only tried for one run.

Hopefully the fix will be soon :>
