Just a quick update in case you're worried I'm going the same way as the last 4 guys..

Pieces are nearly done, but I'm away for a couple of days - they'll be with you by at least the end of next week  :)

Seeme - I think that's up to Zerstörer and the other devs  ;)

But I digress, once I know the purpose of the piece, it makes setting the tone and feel a lot easier.

Right-ho, I'll get on it, thanks.

Where should I sent it upon completion?

*EDIT* - Also, is this mean to be battle music? Ambient music (during quieter game periods)? Menu music?

Good call on the 1812 Overture!  :)

Thanks for the suggestions GodlikeDennis, I'll look into some more traditional stuff as well. Obviously the devs are (rightly so) concentrating on their 1.2 release at the moment so I don't mind waiting for correspondence from them.

But, everyone is more than welcome to post some suggestions of what they'd like to hear :D

I think the main menu music isn't original content though (from a film I believe? I recognise it.) It seems to me that if I'm doing in game music, I should do the menu music too - to keep the sound and feel consistent.

Obviously, classical arrangements would be the most suitable. But the devs might have their own vision for it of course.

But I digress, don't count your chickens and all that...

I'm really surprised to hear that you've accepted so many people already who have not done anything - I jumped at the chance to do the music for this mod!

I'm quite happy to create a piece for you, all I need to know is what you're looking for - in reasonable detail. If you don't wish to talk about this here, email me at alexcottrellsound@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks!  :)

Well if I knew that I wouldn't be so confused  ;)

I didn't know it had been deleted, should I reapply somewhere else?

General Discussion / Mods on holiday?

I put an application in the 'Applications' thread well over a month ago and it still says it's 'awaiting moderation'.

There are applications that have appeared after mine - am I being ignored or should I reapply (again)?  :(

Hopefully one of the Devs will read this..

I've actually applied on the Applications board to be the composer for this mod's soundtrack but not had a reply yet.

Having said that, some of the suggestions here are cracking so if they want a ready made score then that doesn't seem like a bad idea!

Applications / Soundtrack Composer Application

Name: Alex Cottrell aka icarusfoundyou

Age: 18

Contact info: MSN (and email) - icarusfoundyou@hotmail.co.uk

What can I contribute: I'm a big fan of this mod, but noticed that there was no original soundtrack. I'm a budding composer who has worked with mods before - most notably the German Adash mod for TES4:Oblivion where my music was featured in a CD in a gaming magazine. I believe that I can create an appropriate and inspiring soundtrack that will not fall into most WW2 soundtracks clichéd pitfalls (unless a typical score is what you want!) I think I'm flexible and happy to do whatever is necessary to make the music as effective as possible.

How active you think you can be: As active as you want me to be.

Previous work: As I am only 18, I've not exactly been and done everything (yet), but as I mentioned before, I have worked on several other mods of large games. I have done work for small production TV documentaries and have had a piece considered for an independent film to be shown at Cannes film festival.

Examples of your work: Parts of my soundtrack to Adash can be heard here (a couple of years old now): http://www.adash-web.de/en/audio.php

Here is my myspace which has sample of lots of different types of extracts: www.myspace.com/alexcottrellsound

If necessary, I will provide a demo of 1 or 2 pieces made especially to show off my idea of this mod's soundtrack if you're not convinced  :) Some of the work you will hear is a year old (not been involved in any projects since then thanks to concentrating on college work) and I'd like you to hear me at my best!

Other notes: Hopefully I've put this application in the right place!

I'm a big fan of both CoH and EF and have been watching this forum for some time with hope of picking up some hints for gameplay.

It's really starting to piss me off that, even though I've been playing this game for a few years now, I don't seem to be getting any better. Maybe I'm just trying out the wrong tactics or missing something really obvious (maybe I'm destined to be crap forever...)

Here is a link to download my recent excursion as the Wher against the Americans (Normal diff) in a 1v1 and I get thoroughly raped - http://www.mediafire.com/?g4t4mowmztj

If anyone could have a watch (it's not all that long) and tell me how I can improve and actually start beating anything other than an easy, that would be fantastic!
