Tanks standing still instant killing infantry
« on: May 30, 2013, 02:46:25 AM »
Hi, just played a game and i had my infantry clicked to run past a tank standing completely still and 50% of my infantry ran straight into the tank and got instant killed instead of circling around the tank like the other did.

I do not see this as a balanced thing?

Or is it balanced infantry runs straight into a tank standing still and getting instant killed touching it?

Yeah, it was kinda slap in the face waiting 20 mins building your infantry army to attack and then 50% of them get raped by a tank standing still cause they go straight into it instead of going around it, i clicked them to run pass the tank and not straight into it.

Before your gonna reply saying, you clicked them to go near the tank its your fault

Please explain for me how in the real world war 2 how infantry soldiers died instant coming near a tank standing completely still just using its canon? Did the tank have some gas that it lets out when infantry comes near it so they die instant?

If so, then i have missed something in the patch notes.

And no, i do not see how this is balanced if Team 1 has an army of infantry that has to shoot to a moving target with bazooka rounds that 50% misses all the time when the player in Team 2 can just drive a tank straight into them and killing them all? Please explain for me how you think its balanced?

And if your gonna reply back saying '' well how is it balanced for the tanks to get raped by the infantry? ''

They are already fine, if an enemy uses infantry with bazooka on a ANTI TANK - tank they can respond back by moving the tank away and use infantry their self or an ANTI INFANTRY  - tank.

Yes the tank that killed 50% of my whole infantry army was an ANTI TANK - tank. I am not kidding the soldiers ran straight into the enemy still standing tank and died instant.

And YES all my infantry guys had bazooka equipped i did not ran into tanks with only normal weapons them.

Moving tanks crush infantry. As soon as the tank turns its chassis only a tiny bit it will crush infantry that stands next to it.
It's been designed like this by relic. Best vehicles for crushing infantry are StuGs, M10 and vet 1 Shermans and cromwells. For Eastern Front, T34 are work best.

And the counter to this is:

a) spread your infantry and dont put them all in one huge blob.
b) hit the "retreat" button if your enemy is about to crush your infantry. If you do it quickly enough you won't loose any infantryman. Retreating units cannot be crushed.
c) Use your own tanks to attack your enemy tanks or to block them.
d) use Paks. If your enemy tries to rush in a tank against pak + bazookas/schrecks it will take so much damage that the tank will be lost or he has to retreat it before it can do any damage.

That being said, we cannot do much about it (the crushing when the tank turns on the spot). But at least it's counterable :) So good luck for your next games without loosing all infantry in tank treads ;)

I read what you said, but you did not explain for me the fact that this was anti tank - tank and it was completely standing still.

And how is it balanced that infantry men has only a 50% chance of hitting a tank anyway even if its standing still if the tank just can drive around everyone crushing them and your infantry men with all bazookas tries to hit it but misses 50% of the time. And you hardly hit anything if your not close to the tank.

This is how it happend, i tried drawing a picture on how it happend

Yes this is very shocking, every time i have drove my tank into an enemy infantry. My tank had to turn it around cause the enemy infantry were blocking its path! So yes this is very new even that i have played this game for a long time! Every time i tried i have tried it myself my tank had to turn around the enemy infantry, it stopped when it got close 2 them cause it could not move forward! So yes, this is a surprise.

And the tank that crushed all my soldiers was not a t34, it was this one

Other tip is: never force a blob or maybe squad go to a certain location that a tank in their path. That will force those infantry to the crushing, especially if the path is short. I lost nearly a cons squad for a stupid stug lying in their way doing nothing but turning normally.
I'm drunk now, I'm outranked you in philosophy.

Yes, the SU 85 is also quite nice for crushing infantry, especially with veterancy.
However, it's impossible that a completely standing still tank kills infantry. However, as soon as it only even turns around for a part of a second all nearby infantry WILL die. Every turn, every even slightest forward/backward movement is counted as "moving". And as soon as a tank is moving it will crush infantry units.

Videoguide for crushing infantry. How it works, and how you can avoid it.

In general in any type of game you probably shouldn't be risking placing infantry too close to any tank with crush. I also had many times where I lost countless squads by the crush, but I quickly learned my lesson. Try to halt your troops once you get within a few meters from the tank, or use attack ground so then they immediatly stop and attack once enemy is in range.
My personal favorite

...and if it's too late and your troops are cornered the best thing to do is retreat as it'll make your infantry invulnerable against crush.

Still sometimes risk is needed as some AT weapons are done in close range, like the Krak and the Anti Tank Grenade of PE.

18-25m range isn't exactly what I'd call "close range"..

first thing infantry vs tank tank wins unless you use hit and run ambush tactics in every rts game tanks have always killed infantry when they was run over case in point any CnC game and many units in all wars have died in rl do to being run over and crushed under tanks that being said i would recomend using the flanking manuver it works wonders or even better use a sniper as a forward scout that mainly what there for if your not shure how to best use a sniper message me and i'll tell you

good luck in your game and hope it goes better for you
