Let us Create mod for CoH2!!

I don't know where to create this topic so i'm making this here.

My point is, CoH1 is or will be completely dead because of no support from Relic and EF mod currently plays very few people. CoH2 is a future.

What i really want is to create a mod that will be twice or even more better than CoH2 that we all know, sucks at the moment, and to make a mod that people would buy CoH2 only to play OUR greatest mod, for example like CS and DayZ.

If we make a mod, similar to EF mod that is based on CoH2 mechanic (ofc improved) we could overwhelm CoH2 in all aspects

First what should be done:
- Ostheer and Soviets army should be rebalanced completely, add new vehicles, new units
- then we should focus on veterancy system because i dislike things that gives your unit 50% reduced damage, it should give few minor buffs and one major buff for each veterancy
- fix the cover system and cover from buildings
- create new commanders system, ofc based on CoH2 but highly improved (for example i had an idea in which doctrine abilities would have lvl's unlocked on higher CP's, giving bigger buffs
- after that we should focus on mapmaking for this mod maybe? if worldbuilder will be released from Relic.

Right now i NEED your support for this project, i know many of us are disappointed cuz of current CoH2. If we won't make mod for CoH2 who would make it? You are probably the only team that could do that. What say you guys?

Right now CoH2 modding is dead as far as I know. Until Relic roll back the changes they did to turn off modding, I cannot see anyone creating good mods for it.

Besides, I'm not sure if all the team would like that. Personally, I wouldn't.

afaik relic disabled the possibility to run coh2 in dev mode which would be needed to start a mod
and tbh i dont think they will allows it because this is 100% against the DLC strategy they run

why should anybody buy a DLC if he/she can get the same stuff in a mod for free?
its pretty simple they want to make money and mods are a risk for that because they offer probably the same or better stuff for free

right now im 99% sure the best we will ever get from relic will be a world builder
nothing more

I personally am not willing to mod it, not until I see if they are going to patch in a file checker, which for them to protect theyre dlc will be the next step. The mere fact that another commander is purchased if you buy the more exspensive version, should tell you what is coming. COHO for coh2. Maps will end up being dlc pay per pack, skins and extra items will be the same. There is no way until I have an assurance that the game will not be locked out to modding that I will even consider it.
 
The other thing you have to consider, is that COH2 is East front mod. They stole your idea, your commanders and command trees and abilaties , they copied virtually every thing you have because they were too lazy and to broke to make theyre own. And now you want to consider modding something made by thieves who stole ideas and concepts from you in the first place.

If CoH2 is opened up to modding this is something that will happen over time regardless if we help or not. I'd want to step away from WW2 and the Eastern Front if we ever starting modding CoH2 anyway, I've already had 5 years of it so the prospect of spending another 5 years making the same old crap would quite frankly bore the tits off me.

Same here. There are only 3 good games out there which have Cold War Scenario: World in Conflict, Operation Flashpoint and Cold War Crisis, which itself is a mod for C&C Generals :D

Same here. There are only 3 good games out there which have Cold War Scenario: World in Conflict, Operation Flashpoint and Cold War Crisis, which itself is a mod for C&C Generals :D

It was a little joke with me & burro...

2nd of all, We are your only 2 modellers and if we fuck off, considering the work load and the way certain people try to treat others, the idea of a CoH 2 mod without models will die.

You will not find someone willing to do models, textures, uvmapping, animation, compiling & exporting for a game which has no supported tools any time soon so tip toe carefully...
 
PS as Ape likes the idea I'm now actually contemplating it seriously, so you protesters are shit out of luck :)

A change of scenery would do me good. And I always did want to see Tanks smash through the Berlin wall (and not get removed with explosives like in WiC). Shit, Relic even made a Reichstag for us, how kind of them.

VCOH still has a very strong player base considering how long it's been out, I'm doubtful COH2 will be the same. While this may or may not happen, it's certainly something to take in to account. Who knows in three or more years their may be such a low player base that modding would be pointless. I'm not against any ideas as to if a their should be a mod for COH2, I just doubt that by the time mod tools come out (if they ever do) that the game won't be desirable to mod at that point.

A Cold war mod does sound like a fun change of pace, and something that has yet to have been done in the COH community.

At the end of the day as long as we enjoy creating things and as long as we are happy to continue, theres no reason we cannot carry on doing this or something different that's more novel.

In all reality I suspect when people start having to pay for dlcs and maps in coh2, I believe that we will get an immensely strong following. A lot stronger then the currant one. The advantage we have is that we add things as and when we want to spice things up and to balance things. Sega do not have that, because to add something, they have to guarantee a profit and good return. We don't, all we have to do is make sure it works reasonably well and is pleasing to the eye.

Also unless COH2 continues to role in shed loads of money for sega, the support will drop off rapidly. A game like that needs regular patches. Where as we do not as we are the patch makers, and if it isn't broke we generally don't fix it. If it is we fix it if we can, where as Sega will have to fix they're stuff, if not they will not make money.
 
This is tbh an opportunity to beat them at they're own game lol.
