Introduction & Russian casualties question
« on: October 28, 2009, 03:07:03 PM »
First of all, a friendly hello from me and my clan "Reign of Madness" from GameReplays.org . You guys are doing a great job so far developing this promising mod and I can hardly wait for it to be released! Keep up the good work!!  :)

I have a question/issue to raise regarding the Soviet casualties which I haven't seen being discussed in any topic so far.
We know that Russians have a LOT of cheap infantry which can't retreat, meaning it will take massive casualties. By looking at this fact, I'm concerned about the 2v2 balance as an American or British player/ally could massively benefit from these cheap and massive casualties by gaining a ridiculus amount of free squads by their medic tent/casualty clearing stations. If this was to happen, it would be catastrophic for the mod IMHO. What are your plans about this and how are you going to "counter" it? ???

Thanks in advance! Again, Keep up the good work!! :D

Because the game's structure would allow different allied factions to be teamed..  ::) :P
...or will it not? :-X

you will be able to play brit/american + russian

and groundfire you've got a point there....

and denki_groove know your FAQ's

Q: Does EF change my exisiting CoH?
A: No. EF does not modify your existing CoH in anyway. EF is started separately. And even when you start EF, you can still play everything as normal - all existing factions and game modes are still available and not changed in any way. EF is really more an expansion than a mod, it adds the Soviets as new allied faction and the new Eastern Front maps. In fact, you will never have to start your regular CoH again!

First of all, original factions will be unchanged, and you can play them alongside our new factions. That has been a major part of Eastern Front's ethos since the start. Purists can still play Soviet/Ostheer matches if they want to, but we didn't want to restrict those who enjoy the other factions.

Friendly medics won't be able to rescue the cheaper Soviet infantry for the balance reasons stated.

Nobody's forcing you to play with the Americans or Brits... if you want a 'historically accurate' game, go ahead and host one.

This mod has been designed as an expansion from the start, that is part of the original design, and it works well. It helps us keep limits on balance, it keeps everything in an environment everyone is comfortable with. Most mod players install a mod, play it twice, and then forget about it. We want players to never have to click on the main Company of Heroes icon again, because everything they need in CoH is right here.

Taking things away from players is the worst thing an expansion can do. Nobody is stopping you from playing just Soviet.

I guess that pretty much answers the original question. Thanks!!  :)

Alright, ALRIGHT,

Things are getting too intense in this form as it is, everyone calm down, take a deep breath and chill out...

Now, while on the topic of medics and such, can the Russian Medic Truck heal your allies units as well as your own?
