Red Air Force Doctrine
« on: October 08, 2016, 11:18:41 AM »
i am suggesting a possibility for this reward doctrine idea :)

                                                                        RED AIR FORCE DOCTRINE
LEFT COMMAND PANEL - AIR OFFENSIVE SUPPORT

[2CP] - Air-landing Forces - a tupolev tb-3 will land a squad of highly trained soviet paratroopers anywhere in the map!

Air-landing Forces are a 5-man elite type of infantry who specialized in close quarters combat, armed w/ mosin nagant rifles. they can be upgraded (must be inside controlled territory) w/ either full Ppsh sub-machine guns or 2x PTRS-41 anti-tank rifles. they have f1 grenades as well, and satchel charges. unlocks the demo charges when they gained vet 3 and can camouflage when they are in good cover.
costs: 360 manpower, popcap: 5, cooldown tine: 1:25

[5CP] - KT-40 Gliding Tank - grants you a T60 light tank anywhere on the battlefield to support your paratroopers! be careful where you land though. the tank's health depends on how smooth or rough it's landings are. the tank will automatically be upgraded with camouflage when it reach vet 1. it can now hide behind good cover or bushes. can fire couple of dozen rounds before being revealed.
cost: 380 manpower, 3 popcap, cooldown time: 2:00

[5CP] - Red Storm - a squadron of tupolev Tu-3 medium bombers will stir up devastating storms of bombs in it's designated area
costs: 200 munitions, cooldown time: 2:00

RIGHT COMMAND PANEL - AIR DEFENSIVE SUPPORT

[1CP] - Eye from the skies - order an Ilyushin plane to make a reconaissance flight in an area.
costs: 50 munitions, cooldown time: 1:00

[2CP] - Tactical Airlift  - the soviet air command will grant you more resources for your war efforts! increasing manpower, ammo, and fuel rate. reinforcing damaged infantry squads are half times reduced.
cost: none, passive ability

[3CP] - Aerial Overwatch - activate this ability to any of your threatened sectors, Ilyushin ground attack planes will strafe and bomb any visible enemies within that sector. *note: it's not like the Air Raid
cost: 100 munitions, cooldown time: 1:50, duration time: 60 seconds

The overall idea of a Soviet Airforce doctrine is a sound idea, but the overall layout you suggest is pretty conservative. If you don't get what I mean, I'll just commnent it directly in the text (my text is purple):

costs: 360 manpower, popcap: 5, cooldown tine: 1:25 copy of airborne rangers, eh? Fair enough, call in infantry is never a bad thing

[2CP] - Aerial Eyes - order an Ilyushin plane to make a reconaissance flight in an area
costs: 100 munitions, cooldown time: 1:00 recon run that late isn't that useful, but still ok.

[5CP] - Red Storm - a squadron of tupolev Tu-3 medium bombers will stir up devastating storms of bombs in it's designated area
costs: 350 munitions, cooldown time: 4:00 overpowered airstrike abilities? sure thing, I'll take it :D

RIGHT COMMAND PANEL - AIR DEFENSIVE SUPPORT

[2CP] - Strafing Decoy - dropping flares into an enemy held area so that an Ilyushin ground attack plane will pretend to strafe it! deceiving enemy commanders.
cost: 75 munitions, cooldown time: 1:00More air strikes I say! MOAR! MOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!

[3CP] - Aerial Overwatch - activate this ability to any of your threatened sectors, Ilyushin ground attack planes will strafe and bomb any visible enemies within that sector.
cost: 200 munitions, cooldown time: 3:00, duration time: 60 seconds Oh look, another air strike ability

[5CP] - KT-40 Gliding Tank - grants you a T60 light tank anywhere on the battlefield! be careful where you land though. the tank's health depends on how smooth or rough it's landings are.
cost: 100 munitions, 100 fuel, cooldown time: 3:50Hmm, other docs give you KV2, ISU 152, King Tigers, Tiger I, m26 Pershing etc. at that point.

Overall, the concept isn't that bad, but it's not really original, and way too ammunition heavy. 5 out of 6 abilities require you to have plenty of ammo, else the doctrine abilities are pretty useless. Also, the layout is a bit strange. You would want to have a staggering system, where weaker abilities are followed up by stronger ones. I.e. first ability gives you recon run, 2nd ability something with damage, and 3rd ability gives you a bombing run. For example, your t60 light tank for 100f and 100ammo is just a waste of resources at that point (10cp), that's even later than a King Tiger is on the field (9 cp). Instead in the midgame for a decent price that makes a decent call in ability.

Of course, a well designed doctrine offers a balance between ammunition cost, fuel based unit replacements and some bonuses to infantry units.

You can surely go ahead and rework your layout to polish it a bit more, good luck with that.

This concepts is still too heavy munition based. And callin tanks/vehicles have no fuel prize in CoH vanilla. Thats sometimes the reason for a vehicle callin; save the fuel for teching or heavy units.
