i think the russians need an observation post building ability. Yes, I know Russians arent really supposed to "defend," but it would still be usefull. Whenever I am Russians, I am always struggling for fuel. If I had some op's, I could raise my income and solve that problem.

What if conscripts had an upgrade whereby they locked down a sector similar to a scout car. They don't cost pop, are the right price, and it might stop the Russian blob being so overwhelming early on if some troops were kept in reserve locked on points. Obviously it would have to cost resources to upgrade this ability like the scout car. The conscripts would also have to be even more vulnerable than usual so they could be killed quite easily. That way it wouldn't lock down the front sectors that are contested but more a mid game boost/reward for keeping your conscripts alive to this point and they can do something behind the lines.

yea i could see that, but conscripts are really easy to kill, especially when they are standing still. I still think that an actual structure would be the best option.

That's the point, they would have to be easy to kill to prevent you from capping his cutoff and planting some conscript squads on lockdown there. But say a pio squad comes knocking on your +16 in the middle of nowhere, at least you can fight back and beat them, similar to the scout car. I agree that a simple building would be the most balanced option but I think my idea would be unique to the Soviets and fits with their idea, while also giving a mid-game use for leftover squads.

Don't you get a similar effect by garrisoning a house near a resource point with conscripts?

Elmo, what are you talking about.

He meant that if you garrison a squad of conscripts on a house facing the point you achieve the same that "lockdown" it with them... but that's not correct as you stated.

The game already has an OP, maybe they could make it that the OP can also lockdown points much like a scout car.
