The devs are in contact with army rage internally, if there is something definite to report there will be an update.

Cobra re-visited

Featuring a lot of tanks and airplanes, Operation Cobra is one of the most played FH2 maps. However, we figured that it needed improvement in certain areas, so the map received a complete overhaul by Natty.

New terrain and lighting

Some of the changes are graphical. The map has received eye-popping new lighting settings, as well as new textures and vegetation. But don't take our word for it:

Sector Push

In 2.45, Operation Cobra will feature a semi-sector push mode. Gone are the days when a lonely back capper in a jeep could ruin everyone's day by driving back to farm or water mill: Once these two flags are captured, the fight moves on into the city!

Improved city

The city and its environs have also received a much-needed overhaul. New routes have been opened for the sneaky infantry player and tanks will find the streets of Herbecr?von a lot more enjoyable to navigate. The airfield has also been completely reworked, adding cover for spawning players and tanks and making it a lot more appealing visually. On top of that, a new flag named “Crossroads” has been added in the north, making the fight for the city more dynamic.

Balance changes and new toys

When the Germans lose all flags in 2.4, it is almost impossible for them to come back into the fight. In 2.45, the Allies will have to face a formidable German counter attack, consisting of Panthers, Stug IVs and more planes. However, the Germans bleed fast, so get a move on, soldier!
The Americans don't come into the fight empty handed either. They now use the better armored M4A3 Sherman variant, allowing them to have a more sporting chance against the panzers. And for those of you who always thought 75mm was kind of wimpy, some of them have been fitting with a 105mm howitzer, allowing you to effectively support infantry and to clear out buildings and fortifications with ease. As the Germans you can shoot back with your heavy at rifle grenades. These are now closer to their historical effectiveness and replace the Panzerfaust 30 in German tank hunter kits. They have slightly lower damage and penetration, but longer range, more ammunition and still come with a rifle as side-arm, making this one of the most versatile kits ingame.
These changes together will make Operation Cobra a totally new experience for tank connoisseurs and flyboys alike!

Somehow, the road textures don't fit the area around them. They look too light, maybe you're able to darken them a bit. Additionally, sometimes they stop before they reach the crossroad they're supposed to create. But that's just a minor cosmetic aspect.
All in all I have to say you did a great job. Like this map very much.

Sunny side up

FH2 has its share of gritty, gloomy maps. But sometimes you just want to get out your butterfly net and stroll around on a sunny meadow or along a warm, mediterranean beach. If you are in vacation mood, this devblog might be something for you!

Crete

Graphics
Due to its unique gameplay, Crete was a fan favourite in both FH1 and FH2. Graphically however, it was not Forgotten Hope's finest hour, so Natty sat down and gave it a long overdue facelift. Take a look:

Gameplay
There also have been several gameplay changes. Some allied aa guns have been removed, to make it easier to land troops on the island. The rearguard flag was deleted to focus and tighten gameplay and several flags have been reworked to make their gameplay more interesting, especially Maleme airfield.

These changes will breathe new life into a Forgotten Hope evergreen.

Falaise Pocket

Graphics:
This map was introduced in Forgotten Hope 2.2 and has already received a facelift before. Now we are proud to show you its latest and last iteration, made by Remdul:

Gameplay:
The map has received a thorough gameplay overhaul in addition to the great new graphics. The map was converted into a sector push map. The Germans first have to capture the church and the destroyed battery, followed by the first two flags in St. Lambert. The last sector consists of the St. Lambert west flag and the former Canadian mainbase. The Germans will not stop to bleed until all sectors are cleared, so aggressive tactics and teamwork are a must!

Luckily, the Germans also bring a new toy into the fray: The StuH42 is a Stug III that has been fitted with a 105mm howitzer. It has all the fire power of a howitzer without the sitting back in the main base part!

That's all for now, but stay tuned for more map updates!

The Nightman cometh

The night is dark and full of terrors, which makes it the perfect time for close combat battles and stealthy sneaking around. However, so far FH2 has been regrettable light on night maps (no pun intended). This will change in FH 2.45, thanks to a new technique devised by Schism-RvtL. The 32 layers of the maps Eppeldorf and Keren will take place at night, adding more variety to FH2's map pool.

Keren

Last but not least, we have some good news for fans of fast and dirty infantry action: Vossenack, Gazala, Keren and Eppeldorf will feature the new game mode "King of the hill" in their 16 layers. In this game mode both teams fight for a single flag in the middle of the map. Once the flag has been held by one team for a set amount of time, they win the round. This quick and action packed game mode is perfect for starting up servers or passing the time on a slow night.

That's all for now, but stay tuned for more explosive FH2 devblogs!

Huh? That sounds like a 1to1 copy of our Koth gamemode doesn't it?

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

This week we would like to show off a couple of screenshots of a vehicle that can get you swiftly across the Tunisian desert in relative safety. It is of course the M3A1 Scout Car!

The M3 Scout Car was designed in 1937 by the White Motor Company, which gave it its alternative name: the White Scout Car. The improved A1 model was adopted to serve in reconnaissance and armoured units, and by 1944 over 20 thousand had been made. Although it was used in the Philippines and North Africa, its many drawbacks soon relegated it to rear line duty in the US Army. However, it remained widely used by the Soviet Union, who had been supplied with several thousand through lend-lease. The M3A1 Scout Car was modelled by Darren01, textured by Pointblank and exported by Kev4000.

Schadenfreude is the best Freude

There is nothing more satisfying than blowing up something that belongs to somebody else. Because of that time honored principle, we are proud to announce:

Objective mode

Devotees might remember that there actually already is an objective mode in FH2. However, it is never played, which is why the game mode was redesigned by Natty. The new objective mode is similar to sector push: The attacking team needs to blow up all targets in one sector to unlock the next. Objectives can be anything from radios over aa guns to parked tanks. They are marked on the minimap with a yellow star. If a sector is still locked, the objectives can not be blown up. There is a short delay before the new objectives spawn, giving the defending team time to set up their positions and making back sneaking very hard. As always, the attackers have to destroy all objectives to stop the bleed.

Operation Hyacinth

This was the original objective map, so naturally the new game mode was applied to it by Natty, alongside tons of other improvements.

[nofollow]
[nofollow]

The airfield is the first sector: Several Italian planes are just waiting to be blown up or machine gunned by SAS raiding parties.

[nofollow]
[nofollow]

In sectors 2 and 3 the objectives are Italian tanks and radio equipment.

Anctoville

This 2.25 map has been converted into an objective map, giving a whole new spin to its gameplay. Certain forum members will also be glad to hear that the British will now receive support from a Churchill tank.

[nofollow]
[nofollow]

In the first sector they will have to blast their way into the city, destroying several anti-tank barriers.

[nofollow]
[nofollow]

After that they have to go after anti air guns and radios before hitting the Germans where it really hurts: Their Panthers.

This new game mode will bring a totally new experience to FH2, combining the fast and aggressive gameplay of Sector Push with the joy of blowing things up. On both Anctoville and Hyacinth, Objective mode will be found in the 64 player layer, once 2.45 is released.

New tanks

Last but not least, here is a screenshot of the Sherman 105 that a member of the community requested. And because we are in a good mood, we will also throw in a Cromwell with 95mm gun.

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

This week we have a render of some long requested playermodels. The 101st Airborne Division has finally dropped onto the battlefield!

Activated on 16th August 1942, the 101st had "no history, but it had a rendezvous with destiny." The division was shipped over the Atlantic in preparation for the invasion of France. The 101st were given the task of dropping onto the Cotentin Peninsula and securing vital objectives such as the causeways leading off Utah Beach and bridges and locks along the Douve River. The drops were scattered and it took several days before the division was organised and had completed its objectives.

The division dropped again during Operation Market Garden, where it secured several bridges between Nijmegen and Eindhoven. After 72 days combat, the division was pulled back to France for rest and relaxation, which was cut short by the German offensive through the Ardennes. Besieged at the crossroads town of Bastogne, the 101st refused to surrender and despite critical shortages of ammunition and medical supplies they held on until the siege was broken by Patton's 3rd Army. No member of the 101st has ever agreed that the division needed to be rescued.

Their last action in Europe was the capture of the Berghof. The 101st received 2 Presidential Unit Citations and suffered 2090 killed and 6388 wounded. The playermodels were modelled by Pointblank, with heads by Zero and kits by Remdul.
