I don't mind if that's all that's available. I am semi-fluent in German; I have a decent understanding of the language, however there are still many words which elude me. So it could provide a good learning opportunity for me in that regard, too. :)

You will find more stuff in:
Klodt, Rolf: Zur See und an Land. Zu Geschichte, Einsätzen und Uniformen der deutschen Seesoldaten, Marineinfanteristen, der Marinesicherungstruppe und der Marineschutzkräfte. Bonn 2008.

Thank you very much! I'll try to source that book from somewhere. :) I assume that, as a German author, their German will be intelligible - Many English books have dreadful German, no doubt by non-native speakers. My favourite so far has to be "Scheißvorschrift für das Schwere Maschinengewehr". ;D

LOL.
Well. The problem with such a topic like german navals is the fact that german army had no real naval infantry. The Linienschiff Holstein had a small detachment of naval infantry for a landing at the Westernplatte. But this is one of the few actions of "real" german naval infantry. The "naval infantry" of 1945 is just navy personal in military formations. So it is a very small topic and perhaps often not seen in english literature.

Hello 'Lord Rommel',

I have managed to find and order a copy of Zur See und an Land; I now await its arrival. Thank you again for the suggestion. :)

I would also like some information on a few rifle grenades, if anybody knows anything about them:

- The GG/P40 attachment for the Kar98: I couldn't find much on this, but it seems it was used by the Fallschirmjäger? I would like to know when and where it was used, how effective it was, and any other information that may be available.

- "Moschetto per Truppe Speciali con Tromboncino Mod. 91/28": This attachment is mentioned in a list on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcano#Variants
I couldn't find anything else on this weapon. Who used it? Was it very effective in its role? When was it used? Was it even used in WWII?

- 'Gewehr Propaganda Granate':
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifle_grenade#Other_uses_and_similar_devices
Apparently the Germans had a grenade launcher intended to fire propaganda leaflets. Suddenly CoH seems much less unrealistic. :D Was it ever used in combat? And who the hell thought it would actually work?

I do hope somebody can enlighten me on these weapons.

Thanks, CoHtaku.

Reading up on the F-34/Zis-5 gun, I discovered this...

Quote
Some F-34 guns were also installed in Lend-Lease M4A2 Sherman tanks, known as the M4M

All I can find in relation to Sherman's using F-34 guns is this model which may or may not be entirely fictitious -

But I'm intrigued and hoped somebody could fill me in, I really hope actual images of this exist somewhere. ???

Hey guys, I am currently in a Second Sino Japanese war mood and reading some stuff. ( There is btw a great COH1 mod on that theme, its on Steam and called far east I think!)

In the battle of Nanking ( who would later sadly turn into the horrible Nanking massacre) both the Japanese and Chinese used tanks.

My question is, what kind of tanks where this? The Japanese I can somewhat figure out but the Chinese?

I read somewhere that the Chinese used a small amount of Sdkfz 222 and Pz 1, where these used there? ;>

Thanks!

Edit* Added some pictures if somebody wondered if these existed in general!

Chinese sdkfz 222

The only picture of the Pz1 is of when the Japanese have captured it :P

It is pretty simple.
German Pz I, italian CV-33, british Vickers-Carden-Loyd Light amphibious tanks, british Carden Loyd tankettes and british Vickers 6-ton tanks.
They were used by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd chinese tank battalion. They were already weakened by the battle of Shanghai. Most of the tanks were lost during the battle of Nanjing against the japanese forces.
After the battle the chinese tank forces were annihilated. They started to rebuild the tank forces when the soviets send equipment for the 200th Division in 1938.

Chinese CV tankettes

Chinese Vickers 6ton Mark E Type B tank.

Light amphibious tanks used by warlord Chen Jitang's forces.
