We figured out the TEMP Folder Full Error.

Please include the following files:

*Documents/My Games/Company of Heroes/warnings.log
*Temp/RandomLettersAndNumbers.dmp (see below)

How to get the DUMP file

Additional Information
Please fill out the follow information as well.

*What map were you playing?
*Which factions were involved?
*What were you doing when the crash occurred? Try to be as accurate as possible!
*Do the crashes happen during every or almost every game?


Doing this helps us figure out the cause of the crashes easier, and fix them.

(by the way, is it safe to empty the Temp folder from all those files ? can we delete them without having problems ?)

The general rule of delete files from the temp folder is
"If it haven't been changed since you started the computer you can remove it".

Game crashed in Cossbot? In middle of battle. See attached warning log. Now can't launch EF Launcher without it crashing. Stuck in loop. So can't play mod, looking for fix for that in forums.
 Also, have ben getting a language file is incorrect error, not sure what that means.

Fixed.

@macbiz,

Wrong warnings.log, you must post it right after the crash, it gets overwritten each time you start CoH, even if it's without errors.

Hi,

Our group have just updated from 1.04 to 1.1.1 hoping that the crashes would fix... However, we are still getting the crashes every game.

It is ALWAYS towards the end.  Generally once one team is going for the throat to end the game.

The last instance was with 3 human vs 3 human players on Ala Wai Canal.

I was the host and I did not crash.  The 3 russian players on the OTHER side did crash however...  Attached is my (non-crashing host log)

The next post will contain the requested files from one of the players who actually did crash. 

Hopefully this will assist in giving you information from both sides of the crash and assist in finally fixing this terrible problem.

I have another problem: every time I want to start Eastern Front over the Play EF button in the Launcher this message comes: "eastern front launcher has stopped working" - I've win7 but the main game runs on it. So what you think is the prob?? I have launcher 1.10 and the game on 1.11 so what is it?

Just downloaded eastern front the other day and it loads fine, until about 10 minutes in the game CtDs on me. this happens on every map with any faction if i run EF
it wont let me put up the dmp file but heres the log:

Always crashes during loading, at about 70% loaded, on any map if there is a Soviet faction in the game, doesn't matter if it's human or an AI. I was running version 1.1.1.1 and my vanilla CoH is patched to the most recent version. Also won't make a .dmp file because it says the Temp folder is full even though i emptied the folder just before the crash

I get crashes to when maps load (not all) Leningrad (6) player works, Moscow (2) player works but most of the maps like Stalingrad and Rostov crash or the COH exe crashes when loading the map? I play single player skrimish solo so not sure how the multiplayer side works? Can you add more than one cpu player and change the difficulty to expert cpu? Not sure but I've tryed different combos and it seems its just the particular map that Im playing on that is crashing and not the settings in general.

 I've uninstalled and reinstalled once and updated to the latest version you currently have... no problems with that.

Also, I get the temp folder is full error like the guy above me but its not full at all? Keep up the good work though and from the maps I have been able to play it seems like a great mod especially the arty effects and explosions in general.

Honestly? i was doing nothing specially, just attacking my enemy at my front in the center.

i would say 95% of the time, plus even my friend who plays with me gets it very often now suddenly.

I hope we can solve this issue

2 humans vs. 2 cpu's

Russians and Americans against two Wehrmacht

My friend was playing as the Russians and his Zis crew lost their gun, but three man survived. With the survivors, he tried to pick up an empty Pak. At the moment the crew wanted to pick it up, the game crashed.

This is the first time I've seen this happen (it is also the first time I've seen a heavy weapons crew survive the death of their weapon).

Apologies in advance if this has already been posted/answered somewhere, but I'm typing this in a kind of hurry and I'll forget to do so if I don't do it now :P

Hi -

Just installed EF tonight and started it up, I set up a skirmish game as the Red Army on the Leningrad map and made the game 1v1 instead of 3v3.

The game started and I chose to create the Soviet builder unit, but when it spawned the game crashed and so did my entire PC - I got the blue screen of death.

Any ideas how to fix this? I have no tried to play a game since but will probably try again within the next 30 minutes.

Right near the end of the game. We had a battle for about 40 minutes against the computer and then with two buildings to go, one of the human players just crashed for no aparent reason. I am trying to get his log file (I didn't crash).

*Do the crashes happen during every or almost every game?
It happens more often than not with this exact same scenario.

PS. The warnings.log I have attached is for my pc (which DID NOT crash) ... I will attach this prior to getting the crashers log file, etc.

all 3 of the games i have ever played have crashed, all doing different things, with all the things that appeared to crash the previous games, not crashing the consecutive game.

always playing as the russians, with 2 US and 3 WM, always a different map.

While playing as Panzer elite, cpu easy Vs Soviet game crashed after about 20 mins in middle of tank battle.. 8p _rostov

I am having crashes on some of the new maps. I can
't get in to some of the new maps especially as the Russians but if I try to get in as the Yanks I sometimes get in.

Sorry I can't remember the names but in the 2v2 its the last map, and most of the 4v4.

I have attached the files as requested sorry I am not more specific.
Any help would be appreciated

HI,

EF crashes 9 out of 10 times after 15 minutes or so, at any map.
I've installed it on Tales of valor, and that game works fine. There is not much to say then it happens at any map and can happen at any time while playing russians. The soundfx/music starts to repeat itself and the game crashes. After pressing the windows key I can quit the game,and restart.

nothing big... was just 20min ingame with my mate
and we started to build up defence on the map

we have just dloaded 1.2 and wanted to play... we did 2 tries
and in both games it crashed nearly at same playtime

Curiously, two separate .dmp files were created (on both system crashes with EF), but both are empty

However, here's the rundown of a fatal system crash:

Map: Lyon (1vs.1) standard, skirmish mode

Player: Wermach (Terror doctrine)
AI Player: Soviet ( AI chose Urban doctrine on both occasions)

Description:

Started the game by blocking all bridges with sandbags & tanktraps.

Proceeded to reinforce all fuel & ammo points.

Chose the doctrine as "terror".

Used "firestorm" off-map ability to drop the two side-bridges crossing the river. Focused defence on the main crossing with some 2 AT-guns, 2-3 MGs, 2 snipers and three mortars.

Created a gap in the sandbag wall (using pioneers) to invite the AI forces to commit an assault.

THEN: as soon as the soviet forces come in range and my defence force opens up firing, I use the "firestorm" off-map ability to drop some white-phosporous on the opposite side of the bank and BANG: Game goes into freeze, sound into a loop and I am unable to use ctrl-alt-del or alt-tab to force desktop. Only sollution is to cut of the power.

I tried this setup twice and on both occasion (same map, same general course of actions) and the mod crashes at the very instant you hit "Firestorm" button to drop the arty.

Hope this helps to find the cause.

Two CTDs, one on vimoutiers, one on lyon.  Both comp stomps against wehr/pe mixed.

This mod is never going to be playable until these crashes are permanently fixed.

Hi!

I have a problem.

I've installed EF, I have all patches and expasion packs to CoH. When I'm trying to play USSR army on any map, on 3/4 of loading bar game crashes, sound stop playing, and if u pres alt+tab u will se:
Coudn't make a bug report.
Please check your TEMP folder.
When I'm playing other factions on new maps, everything is ok.

What should I do?

How much free space is left on your hard drive? What are the specs of your pc?

For me looks like a bottleneck between higher effects and low ram or vram.

@everyone else with a crash error without temp folder error
Do you use ultra settings? Do you have the latest drivers?

Really, I have 4gb of ram, but Vista takes a lot.

And now, I have sometimes probles during the game:
Game carshes with the same problem. I've everything updated I think, but If not, how can I check it, are there any good programs for it?? I have everything on ultra etc. but standard game, when not playing russian, is ok and there a not any crushes.

Not much action on my side of the map, there was a large firefight on the opposite side between Wehr, Soviets, and US. Unfortunately since I wasn't involved and no temp replay was generated, I can't be very specific. There was a Halftrack, and a group of Volks and Stormtroopers were moving into cover while some Conscripts were doing the same.

The software is a fully functional trial, enough time for "testing" ;), I think we can use it to check if the crashes are related to overheating or something else... Please post your temps,and voltage readings. I think that Everest from Lavalys does the same and more, but it's "complicated"; I hope it helps to diagnose.

As SensorsViewPro doesn't check the video card temp, you can download and use GPU-Z (http://techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/), an utility for video cards, free by the way. While playing you can keep it open to log the information of the sensors from your video card, recording the temp of the chipset, etc. To enable save logs you should click on Sensors tab->Log to File->Choose path.

Ok so this isnt really a *crash* so much as its not working.
Eastern fronts installed, updated
COH version 2.601.0
i open the EF launcher, and coh starts without any mod.

my friend downloaded the mod and tried inviting me and i get the error "randomname invited you to a game but you can not join it"

please help!

What were you doing when the crash occurred? Try to be as accurate as possible!

Nothing...during the loading one russians crash (disconnection made appeared).
When game star, I heard only the noise of my Swimmwagen and i don't saw nothing (monitor completely black).
Then , the game brought me back to the desktop and appeared a window that says "The driver of your graphic card has stop to work and now has been successfully rehabilitated"  ??? ???

Do the crashes happen during every or almost every game?

Relic's Bug report appeared after.

PS the game don't save me the replay.

I get the same problem any map over 4 players (Stalingrad, Berlin etc) and the game crashes, doesnt even finish loading just end up getting "Failed to create dump file (error 183) and then crashes to the desktop. If i play americans or british the map will load but will crash 10mins into playing :(.

I have no problems at all with normal company of heros and i run the settings at high, i did lower the setttings to medium to see if it would work and it it did load Stalingrad. however its a pain to play it in medium graphics especially if normal company of heros works fine :)

Is there a fix for this error or a way around it? any help would be appreciated as the MOD is awesome

Go to the EF Launcher->Settings->CoH Directory->Select the correct path. Do you have Steam CoH?

If you update EF before fixing this you will need to go to CoH folder\EF_Updates and install one by one update starting from EF_Setup(1.2.2.0) :P. If not, after selecting the correct path just click on "check for updates" button.

not sure if i temporarily lost connection at the same time as my internet has gone funny.

I retract what i said about the T70. turns out i've never actually built one until now ever since i first started using this mod in...er several months ago. :P

Hi,

First of all... fantastic work to produce this mod  ;D

The game crashes with a Resource .DLL not found error.  This has only happened on the Prague map, playing as Russians Vs Wher(AI).  It does not seem associated with production of any particular unit (at least by the Russian faction) and i have played other maps with no problem.
The same crash seems to occur after 20mins or 2 hours.

The game hangs, screen goes black and a window pops up (that i couldn't seem to close), saying;

"BugSplatRC resource DLL not found."

The warnings.log file was actualy 18.1meg(gulp) so i have edited it, removing the mass of lines reading
'Warning: upgrade in upgrade prerequisite doesn't exist' and hopefully leaving the rest.

I had a 5 man ZiS AT that was destroyed leaving a single crew member behind. I moved the guy back to try and reinforce and could, to a cap of 3.  Then I proceeded to try and re-crew one of my own crew-less mortars with the now useless AT team and the game locked up. The map was Moscow and I was facing Wehrmacht.
Also the gunless crewmembers could not enter buildings of any kind.

The bug is that you are playing with an old version of EF(1.1X). I suggest to update from the launcher or download the last version from ModDB (http://www.moddb.com/mods/coheastern-front).

Yeah that was a crash :P, hard to believe but if you can replicate it :P. If you have EF 1.10 and upgrade ZiS-2 with four-man-squad to five-man-squad; if you lose the ZiS-2 only one soldier will survive, you can reiforce him up to 5 times(4 soldiers + 1 AT gun :P... yes the lost AT gun is treated as reinforcement :P). Of course, even if you don't reinforce by a 5th. time(avoiding the AT gun) you will have a 5 man squad capable of recrewing any type of heavy weapon but the game will crash :P. Also that squad couldn't garrison anywhere, they're suppose to be AT crew after all ;).

I did not discover the bug by myself, was Artillerist, Original Thread (http://easternfront.org/forums/index.php?topic=3619.msg35809).

I took my time and posted screenshots (http://easternfront.org/forums/index.php?topic=3664.msg36358#msg36358) of that bug if you want to watch them :P.

I can't remember what i was doing or playing for the two older but i've got a fresh new crash right now while playing russians on 2vs2 (with and vs IA) at Pointe du Hoc.
I was capturing a point (but the game crashed before the end) and building nothing.

I love this mod, so thanks you. However i have to admit that the game is far more unstable since 1.2 (network problems & CTD).

I tought that it could be linked to the patch 1.0 > 1.1 > 1.2 so i reinstalled the game in fresh 1.2 yesterday.

I'm not sure but i think i don't have this enabled.
However, i use "Granola" which regulates the energy given to my processor to save power. More infos here: http://grano.la/ (http://grano.la/)

Each time i play heavy game, i put granola on "highest settings" which sound equivalent to the "highest power" unmodified windows settings i think.

My EF used to crash a lot randomly... 'til I downgraded the shader settings from Ultra to High and the water reflection to low. It made a world of difference and EF hasn't crashed a single time since. Just posting this in case it helps someone....  :-X

I have also reduced the settings but i've got a crash without any lags in game !

This isn't the topic but, do you plan to optimise Zythomyr again ? because this is the heaviest map on the game !

That should help, but i'm wondering that if you have 64 bits OS, CPU VT could help to increase the performance of x86(32 bits) apps :P. The bad news for inexperienced users is: that option can be enabled/disabled just from the Bios Conf. Screen. It's just a theory :P...

My game crashed while doing a warm up comp stomp.
I was playing the leiningrad map.

The Ai was at my doorstep and then it crashed.
It wasn't a particularly big problem because i was getting wupped anyways but it did confuse me a bit.
i wonder if it's something to do with the smoke barrage from the soviet mortar i used in conjunction with tank hunters ambush.

Try disabling the auto-updater. Open EF_Launcher_Config.ini located in CoH Directory and change this line

hey my Ef crashes very often. while loading a game or while playin it. but most times at middle or end of the games. sometimes my hq is pink, and last game i saw big pink boxes after i shoot an V1 and everywhere was written " bad area".

Hi all,

about every 2nd EF game hangs on my system.
I don't have this problem when playing ordinary CoH OF.
This time I played soviets. It was a 2vs map (Tannenberg) with a normal npc on each side. Axis where 2 Wehrmacht.
I just got hit by a nebelwerfer and tried to rescue at least one AT gun.
Each time this happens the screen freezes. The last sound is repeated forever. Often I am able to kill the task with the task manager - but not always.
It would be interesting whether I am the only one having this kind of problems or if it happens more often.
Dump file is empty.

You can try(if not done before) giving more space to the paging file, I assume you have 3gb of ram the maximum amount that OS can hold.

I'm having some trouble with the Stalingrad map. It's the only map which has this problem, but it happens absolutely every time I try to start a skirmish on the map. Basically what happens is that at about 3/4 of the loading the game freezes, and I get an error about there not being enough storage space available to create a crash report. I have plenty of space, and my memory works just fine on larger maps.

Soviets, Wehrmacht and Panzer Elite were the involved factions.

Obviously there's no error log I can supply, as it is not saved anywhere when this problem occurs.


Edit: Damn! Just happened with Zhytomyr as well. I really wanted to play that map.

I also forgot to ask... How much video memory your pc has?

Yes, the system ran out of memory and shows that error(not enough space), you increase the pagefile and the crash continues, but now can write the dump file.

Low your graphics settings. If that doesn't help, avoid playing on those maps. IMO is next to nothing what you can do to fix it(without any radical solution)... it's the limit of any 32 bits OS.

With radical solution meant having more than 4gb of ram and 64 bits OS :). Because 32 bits OS just handle up to 4gb, nothing more. So if you have 20GB of ram and a 32 bits OS(XP/Vista/7) it just will recognize 4GB.

I have win7 too and doing that shows me the temp folder as well. You can search for your temp folder over your user folder\appdata\local

I was playing the Soviet and the CPU faction was Wehrmacht.

On this map you start with a few MG-bunkers and Flak-88's; aswell as a squad of American riflemen, theese were talking russian (no problem:P) and had the build button, but nothing to build, so I guess the game recognised them as russians. The crash happens, and this have happened each time me and my friends have tried it, when we try to make the "american" squad take over an Flak-88. I suppose the game thinks of them as russians and therefor not able to use weapons laying around, but the icon appears when we mouse-over and it is clickable.
I hope the files i added are the right ones, good luck on findign the bug:)

Ok so I was playing online and it crashed:

*I think I got the files attached

*Map: The Scheldt
*Factions: 3 Soviets (comps) vs. 3 Wehrmacht (humans)
*Doing: watching an ally's rocket halftrack barrage on countless hordes of red infantry, then I clicked on the minimap to go to my base and it froze the visual and looped the audio
*Crashes during every or almost every game: yes, but lately it has been a different crash than this where the visual sticks (except the cursor) and flashed between the last 2 frames, but the audio keeps going (as does the battle) underneath the stuck visuals.


I hope that by doing this, it will help you figure out the cause of the crashes easier, and fix them.

berlin, 1 human soviet and 2 AI soviet. 3 AI Wehrmacht. just attacking the other side, almost won the match. half an hour of play and then crash report. this happens every time, including skirmish and multiplayer games.

crash every time only on multiplayer game, skirmish by my own seems to work fine, al least for now, 3 players, 2 soviets 1 american, 3 panzer elite Hard AI, crash randomly.

Could you follow these steps?

1)Start Menu->Run(or windows key + R)->temp
2)Delete all what you can.
3)Start Menu->Run(or windows key + R)->%temp%
4)Delete all what you can.
If you get the error again, repeat from step 1. Try to keep clean these folders in order to avoid those errors.

I have weird problem here how it goes: when i play eastern front and i am in the middle of the game my HQ starts to shake and i alt+tab it went away then i played and it worked.Then when i go to that area where it shaked, it shaked again then i did the same thing after for sometime it shaked again but a different area.Then i did the same thing i alt+tab it then after for some time it shaked ant i have no total control of my pc so restarted it.I went to eastern front the same thing happened.Please Help me!! :'(

What are your computer specs?

Did you tried to lower the game settings?

To avoid the first, try to lower the graphics settings (if you can).

I can talk about the second because I don't know it. Nice bug if real.

The assault engineers for soviets cannot build normal structures; just the normal engineers. Both can deploy defensive structures.

My game crashes when playing all EF maps either 50% through the loading screen or 100%. As soon as i click "Press any button" to start the match i get kicked to desktop. No errors once so ever.

If i play vanilla Company of Heroes maps such as Villers-Bocage, The Schielt (spelling?) i can play them but after about 20 minutes the game crashes and kicks me to desktop. No errors.

My system specs-

AMD Athlon II x4 620 Propus quad core (2.6ghz)
ATI Radeon 4850 1GB
4GB ram (only recognizes 3 because i'm on XP)
Windows XP SP3
500w Corsair PSU
ASUS M4A785-M (mother board)

I can run at High settings and get a good 200FPS.

It seems to work with the other factions with the settings on High.

However, when the Ingenery throw a satchel charge The game crashes, at least I think it was the satchel charge that caused it. If it helps, I was throwing it at an empty trench built by me, because after saving then loading the match it had sunk into the ground (as they all had) and the infantry in them couldn't hit a thing because they just kept shooting the ground. Warnings log is attached, for setting see previous post but texture detail is high not ultra. (If you didn't know already.)

 I was just playing the game as usual, it was when the attack started at the middle of the map, in which the game crashed at that point. Up to this point i had not built any tanks, i only had infanry on the field. Btw i chose the breakout command tree.

The first 3 times played were alrite-no problems- only recently did i exp this porblem.

** I tried reinstalling COH and the mod 2 times but still facing this problem..

So one faction should be twice on the battlefield.

Also which units did you (or your enemy) used for the attack in the middle.

*soviets were always involved when all my crashes occurred, didn't get any crash when played as British without soviets on the map, but I did it only once to test all new vehicles
*just playing, but i have noticed that most of all crashes occurred when I was upgrading my units in the soviet structures (maybe all of them, I dont really remember every crash), last time it happened when i was unlocking antitank gun and sniper, the game crashed when the upgrade should be finished
*I would say 4 out of 5 times when I try to upgrade all my units and 2 out of 5 when only few of them, but I think there were some crashes when I wasnt doing anything

This is for my friend. Everytime he tries to play his screen starts shaking all over the place. According to him it sounds like the game may be continuing to play nornally while this occurs. When I altered his graphic settings it worked fine. once I left sometime after it started again. His computer has really good equipment but I don't kbow the exact specs. His computer can run almost any game on max settings. He said he tried lowering them even more. This has only been a problem for only a few weeks and he has had the game fully patched for months now. We would both extremely appreciate any ideas because we enjoy playing LAN together. Thanks! I will add any other information I get.

OK, so two of us were normal Germans playing against one Normal Russian in the Lyons map.  The other slot was closed.  I was the server.  The client crashed shortly after start up.

We were unable to pull up a dump: there was nothing in the directory anywhere close to the date and time of the crash.

Sorry for not getting back to you. He did not. I don't see how that would matter. All of his other games work and EF worked perfectly for awile. It was working fully updated, then we played lan and a week later it just stopped. I'm not sure if he played between those times. I thought it was a video card issue, but that doesnt quite fit either. Thanks.

HA!  The second the client saw that most of his settings were set to ULTRA, we felt the problem was solved.   Indeed, when we tried to reproduce the problem with settings jacked down to LOW, it worked!

Of course, we were always able to play non-Russian enemies in COH with his ULTRA settings, so apparently this version eats up a bit more than Tales of Valor.

Note that it only crashes the FIRST time we play against an AI Russian.  Even with the same scenario, once he restarts the COH process after the crash it works fine.

Yep, that's what we suspected.  The auto-detect on the client machine set most stuff to "Ultra".

Did you and your friends installed DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en) routines? If not you should.

Also, you and your friends can deactivate triplebuffer and vsync to improve the performace. You can check it on EF Launcher Settings menu, if you use EF Launcher; if you use a shorcut from RelicCoH.exe you should add "-novsync -notriplebuffer", without the quotes of course.

Our DirectX should be up to date as far as I know.  The game has been running flawlessly since he turned his graphics down from Ultra (not to mention loading faster as well!)

Ты, случаем, не ГР запускаешь (надо именно ВФ)?
Замки, в любом случае, идут от игры, а не от мода. Т.е. замки стоят на месте кампаний, которые тебе не доступны, потому что ты купил не полную версию игры (не Tales of Valor, а Opposing Fronts, например).
РККА доступна только в режиме схватка, т.к. компании никто еще не сделал, и если сделает, то не скоро.

Game crashed with me being russian and an american ally vsing 2 german. it crashed when their tanks had entered my base.
This was with the lastest patches out atm. i've attached requested log and dmp files
cant remember the name of the map but it was one of the custom EF maps (2v2)

Low your settings and disable anti-aliasing. Hope that helps.

I usually play this game with 3 friends of mine, and we've all had problems with the game crashing during 4 player matches, but never usually during a 1v1. The thing that always seems to trigger the crashes is when a player uses artillery. it's happened once when I used the command squad artillery strike as russians, and also when a werhmacht player used rocket barrage. only one player's game actually crashes when this happens and it's a different player every time.

Здравствуйте, у меня проблема. Некоторые карты вылетают, пишет, что нет папки TEMP, хотя всё наместе. Оригинал работает без проблем. Причем вылетает не постоянно, некоторые карты (с пометкой ВФ) запускаются нормально, некоторые вылетают на середине загрузки, а не которые загрузились и тут же вылетают (ещё в окне загрузки), это у всех так или проблема у меня? В любом случае есть решение?

Здравствуйте, у меня проблема. Некоторые карты вылетают, пишет, что нет папки TEMP, хотя всё наместе. Оригинал работает без проблем. Причем вылетает не постоянно, некоторые карты (с пометкой ВФ) запускаются нормально, некоторые вылетают на середине загрузки, а не которые загрузились и тут же вылетают (ещё в окне загрузки), это у всех так или проблема у меня? В любом случае есть решение?

I don't have the dmp file, sadly. I have played a game since it crashed and I don't feel like playing another one right now to see if it crashes. I will upload the file if I play another soon.

Basically from what I have seen, the game crashes during any skirmish including more than two players. I can complete 1vs1 no problem. But 2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4, all seem to crash eventually. I have not managed to complete a single game using anything except 1vs1.

This has almost always been while playing Russia, with Russian AI on my team. I suspect the problem has something to do with AI Russians. I will probably try running a game versus two AI russians, and trying running a game where I am the only Russian faction, and fill out the rest of my team with Americans. See if the game crashes in those circumstances. Because thus far, the game has crashed very reliably whenever there is more than one AI Russian.

The crash is fast. It just drops immediately to desktop and brings up the Relic crash reporter. Nothing special.

I will say that one of those times the game seemed to crash when I recrewed an AT gun as Russians, and it's possible that the game might be crashing when the AI Russians recrew AT guns, but that's just speculation.

Edit: About AT guns, I will say that I have had no trouble recrewing AT guns in 1vs1 as Russians, so it's probably just my imagination.

Factions involved: Russians, Americans, Germans, Elite Germans (the 2 dif axis factions)
I was in the process of defending my ally with commissars with SMG upgrade.
It crashes every game. Have suspicions it has something to do with the Germans....

Both files needed are attached. Please fix soon. Only just got it working again  :-\

Hello. I just bought the company of heroes gold pack from steam that includes both COH and COH opposing fronts. I went on and made my account and all seemed to be going well, but ANYTHING I try to play on the game makes me crash to the desktop... Tutorial, skirmish, online, campaign, even the performance test after adjusting graphics settings.

I have windows 7 64-bit, geforce 9800GT graphics card, and i'm currently using an HDTV as my monitor with an HDMI cable.

For any other details  on computer specs just ask, thanks

Uninstall EF, go to your CoH Directory and make sure Eastern_Front directory doesn't exists.

Then install EF 1.30 and update it using the launcher. If your launcher cannot download the updates, you can download them from here (http://easternfront.org/forums/index.php?topic=2533.0).

Eastern Front, Blitzkrieg, Battle of the Bulge, Back to Basics, Modern Combat, Zombie Mod, Cheat Mod... all these are modifications(aka mods) for Company of Heroes.

They change CoH's behavior to be more "realistic", others change it completely and presents you a new "theaters" rather than WW2 fields and a few ones just add stuff following CoH game style. In this case, Eastern Front belongs to the latters, don't messing with CoH gameplay but adding the Soviet faction.

Now, the error that your log file shows, reminded me of a user with a similar case; his problem was caused because he used the Cheat Mod.

And it will be solved in the future?
It means the problem is caused by the use of 32 bit OS. It's a problem related to that type of OS, if you use 64 bit OS you aren't likely to have such issue.

It cannot be solved by any means, just can be prevented to some extent, lowering your settings and avoiding huge/very detailed maps, but never will be fixed due the x86 arquitecture, unless you install a 64 bits OS then you can use more than 3gb... this is due the amount of content that every mod has, and will increase in the future, making this worse.

When i started to playing EF, I had that problem(TEMP folder full) many times, infact that was the only crash error i had. I used to had 4GB on XP 32 bits, then in a couple of weeks i changed to Vista 64 and the problem was gone, EF still crashes from time to time, but is far more stable in 64 bits OS than in 32 bits one.

When I launch it its ok then brings me to what game I want to play (i.e. skirmish, campaign, etc) I usually select skirmish and play the rostov 8 player game where I play and the rest are computers. When I click start, the game meter starts rapidly then suddenly slows down until it reach approximately 60% of the bar. When it reaches 60%, it either hangs up by hearing the music repeating itself in a cycle or I get kicked out and usually brings me to the main menu. My EF 1.3 is updated and I have already downloaded the latest 2 patches and is still not working.

My current config for my WS are as follows

AMD Athlon 7850 Dual Core Processor
2.80 GHz
4 GB ram
Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have a look at what has been said in the last few comments on this page before yours.... your problem sounds exactly the same as 6izik.

You'll need to upgrade your OS to a 64bit version =\
Yes its troublesome but worth it if you can upgrade.

Personally I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64bit and it runs like a dream bar the hit and miss with various maps which cant be helped atm.

I am able to play now with ease but can only do it at 4 players instead of 8 but its better than nothing. Will try to upgrade to a 64bit pretty soon.

You forgot to attach the necessary files(warnings.log, dmp file) in order to help you. Also, you didn't mention if was a normal crash or a "TEMP folder full" error.

If you already have this crash at minimum settings, I don't think there's much we can do about it :-X... try using this software (http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html), it may help you or you can upgrade to 64 bits OS.

Just downloaded and installed, 2011_01_21_EF_Setup1.3.0.0_full_backup. When I launch EF I get the following error (Windows Error Report):

Not using proxy.



Try disabling auto-update feature:

1) Go to your CoH Directory.
2) Open EF_Launcher_Config.ini
3) Change Auto_Update=True to Auto_Update=False
4) Go to this (http://easternfront.org/forums/index.php?topic=2533.0) topic, download & install the updates manually.

You will need to install manually the next updates though.

Hi, I wrote recently of various crash on my PC. I tried "Game Booster" but without success. Now I installed EF on my laptop that run with windows 7 64bit. Initially Ihad no problems, but today, shortly after the start of the match at Leningrads whit soviet, the game crashed. HELP ME PLEAZE!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. :'( :'( :'( i CAN'T PLAY EF IN ANYWAY!

my game crashed, my pc stucked you know i cant use alt f4 or ctrl alt delete, and there was a rifle's sound like "vijivijivijiviji", sound get stucked too, rifle's sound was like mg :). I had to reset my pc and i hadn't get any dmp files.

I was on a hilltop with my Zveroboy just turning around to bring it back downthe hill and it froze

They were happening 100% of the time and always the same crash that freezes the entire computer looping the sound, forcing me to power off (and not generating a dump file).  I lowered my graphics settings to minimum and have been able to run the game, increasing 1 setting 1 level each time to see which setting is causing a problem for me.  The last setting I adjusted was tree quality setting it to medium.

warnings.log is located on My Games\Company of Heroes\.
CoH's dmp file is located on:

WinXP -> C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp(you can access faster if you use the run box with %temp% command).

Win Vista & 7 -> C:\users\username\AppData\Local\Temp(you can access faster if you use the run box with %temp% command).

Or in weird cases, sometimes in C:\WINDOWS\Temp (you can access faster if you use the run box with temp command).

The dmp file has a generic name but you should be able to identify it by checking the date of creation.

Also, if you have this file with the date-time of the crash please submit it as well:

scarlog.####.####.txt
Located on My Games\Company of Heroes\LogFiles. For SCAR related errors. Replace the "#" for the current date and time.

Hey guys.
One time, (on 9th page) Werty_5792 wrote that his game crashed when enemy tanks entered his base...
"Game crashed with me being russian and an american ally vsing 2 german. it crashed when their tanks had entered my base.
This was with the lastest patches out atm. i've attached requested log and dmp files
cant remember the name of the map but it was one of the custom EF maps (2v2)"

I & my friends are playing EF 3v3 and we have the same problem...
Is it any way to fix it?

Try lowering your settings. Your hardware is good enough, however CoH is unstable on Ultra-Settings especially on 32 bits OS.

Let me begin to say that i love this mod. I love playing as the russians not only because i am russian  :P . This mod really makes the game balanced. Although i am very angry that every game EF crashes. when in the loading screen, in the middle  of a game. and all EF maps dont work the only maps that work are original 1v1 maps... :( if even by some miracle the game doesnt crash when i am trying to play on a 2v2+ map I have barely enough time to build my first engineer  :( so i am forced to play on 1v1 maps. just cant get enough of russians though so i keep trying. again i'd like to say that i love this mod and if you guys could fix it it would be greatly appreciated by not only me but many others who have the same problem, thanks and thanks for making such a great mod

I patched the ToV to 2.601 but when i open the game it seems i have 2.500. I checked the regedit and it seems same. I got 2.601 but the game is making problems.

I've just downloaded Eastern Front yesterday and each game I have played it has crashed about 15-40 minutes in. I could have the graphics set a bit high but seeing as many others seem to be experiencing this problem it appears as though it is a bug?

EF uses more resources than ToV(which uses more resources than OF), hence, that's why the crash happens. Did you get a "temp folder full" error or just crash?

Try using gamebooster (utility). It is quite helpful. I haven't had crashes in ages. Also, you might wanna check your virtual memory settings. If those are low - enlarge the swap file size.

Yep, downloaded and used the gamebooster facilities yesterday. Didn't seem to do that much though.

Virtual Memory is at 4092mb.

Sounds pretty much like RAM deficiency. Try closing all programs, unneeded ATM. You can monitor your RAM usage through process monitor (ctrl+alt+del), or with a help of some utility like statbar.
Mainly, people tend to stick with anti-virus software, though it is of no use, when the game is running, really. But basically, CLOSE EVERYTHING, unless you really need it.

I played on the computer (just recently) with similar processor and just the same ammount of RAM, so I know, what exactly I'm talking about ;).

similar? how similar? was faster than his processor? was from different brand but same speed? -> (not a celeron processor but an amd or another intel model)

If you used a celeron in that pc, fair enough; however, if you used a different processor than a celeron with the same speed (2.4 GHz)... that's another story and will affect CoH performance.

Intel Celeron is the worst brand of Intel processors to play video games.

Yeah, it's definitely the RAM deficiency - the game crashes the very moment it experiences the RAM shortage, then the RAM usage drops, since the game isn't really running.
Get your RAM usage below 1Gb before you start the game, or else - get more RAM.

Also I just tried Opposing Fronts - my RAM did exactly the same thing when I started a match with that, went down to about 20-25% free. Though I didn't play that game out to see if it crashed, it has very rarely crashed in the past.

You cannot compare an Intel Celeron and a Core 2 Duo, it's like comparing a Mitsubishi Lancer with a bicycle.

As you have an unreliable processor, i don't think you can play this game properly with your current PC.

The problem that celerons have is that they have less cache memory and their bus transfer speed is lower than other models, creating a severe bottleneck between ram/hdd/processor... and that happens because isn't a processor designed for gaming but for casual use.

Remember that EF uses more resources than ToV, hence the crash. Also, skirmish matches seems to cause more crashes than PvP.

That's a good suggestion, i remind someone said EF launcher was giving him problems of "stability" on his pc. He said his problems gone once he stopped to use the launcher :-\.

Ok I've just tried a 4 vs 4 skirmish. It seemed to be going well for a while, I thought it might have been fixed, but at about 25mins in it crashed. There didn't seem to be more units in play than at any other point in the game though. I could understand if I had tried to build a big army and then the game crashed but the amount of units didn't seem anymore than at any other point.

I means you're low on resources. So you might wanna try lowering your settings (graphic ones). For any further advice you should probably list your system specs.

It is frustrating since the last 1.31 update. We start playing a EF game on Relic server then after one hour or so the game says either you are victorious or lost. The connection simply crashes. Enough RAM on both machines (8 GB) and high-end video card from EVGA (over a gig with two power supply cables!!!). We tried regular CoH without any problem. Since we played previous versions of EF without any problems in ULTRA video mode, there must be something seriously wrong with the scripting/programming. There are also only a few multiplayers online with EF, so there must be an issue.

you can find it in your temp folder. click on start menu->Run->"%temp%" (withou the quotes).

The dmp file has a generic name, but you will recognize it by checking the date of the crash.

Game crashes online and off, at least 10 min in during random events on any map with any number or types of players. Computer is more than enough to handle the game.

Win 7 Pro x64
AMD Phenom II X4 @2.8GHz
4GB DDR3 RAM (Will be 8 soon)
AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB

This is truly an incredible mod but every version I have played has this crashing issue.

Anything? I don't think it's my computer. I check RAM usage occasionally and it's always around 3GBs, not counting the 2GB of dedicated video RAM. Drivers are up-to-date, and my CPU isn't maxed out either. Even turning down settings didn't help with the crashes.

You need to own an original copy of any CoH game (Company of Heroes, Opposing Fronts, Tales of Valor) in order to play EF.

Here is a more recent dump file from my last crash, as well as the scar log, warning file, and art messages. The game only seems to crash when Russians are in the game, either on my team, or the enemies. Lowering settings has not helped.

Got my 4GB of RAM back from RMA, and the game still crashes. I noticed it always crashes on the map Kiev, but other maps as well. Kiev also has an issue sometimes with vehicle's firing with a texture glitch (see attached image).

Edit: Checked my resource usage shortly before the game crashed, and my RAM usage was only about half, and my CPU usage was about 80% on all 4 cores so it's not my computer. What is causing the crashes?

My friend's and my game crashes almost every time, only when Russians are involved. We both have powerful enough computers, and sometimes it crashes shortly after starting. Here is the latest dump file, and several recent scarlogs and warning logs.
