Balance Discussion / Re: Some suggestions
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:05:57 AM »
I would like the command squad to not be as ridiculous early-game, i mean the devs said that the soviets are supposed to be weak early on, and right now they are like the british on steroids.

I feel like the command squad has to be used in order to escape suppression, not being able to go through it and circle the mg. If they can make that happen, then it would be less like Heroic charge and there wouldn't be so many problems with the command squad being ridiculous anymore.
If this mechanic works properly, I wouldn't mind decreasing the cooldown on it at all since it would be necessary in order to escape and reposition your units, instead of blobbing and going in there gunning and running.

Balance Discussion / Re: why do people need to win so much?

Think of it as chess. Some people want Soviets to be all
Queens. So that they can kick butt without effort. It's a
human thing, and I understand it completely.

Once it's purrfectly calibrated either way, then I am fine
with people being their regular retarded selves - soviet op!
 - Axis op! ... As long as we're talking white/black sides of
chess. Cmon. In chess it's retarded to say one side is
OP compared to other. Same with pong :)

I'm pretty sure white is op :P not because of stronger pieces, but because of easier playability. White, as the allied in Coh have the initiative and are the ones setting the pace thus they usually end up having the best and earliest impact units. Wehr are reactive, thus much harder to play, as for much of the game you are preventing the opponent from flanking you instead of making decisive advantages yourself. OF just skewed the chess comparative into harder to analyze variables since now there's many playable combinations.

I think they are fine, they should really balance late-game and tiering first since you can get tanks way too fast.

I'd like it if you could research tiers without building all of your buildings, much like the wehrmacht does it, since building all buildings would become repetitive after awile.

Balance Discussion / Re: Sniper ace...a bit to expensive?
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:24:16 AM »
I have to agree with flash here.

Camo run + stickies + insta arty. With good protection + good micro can deal way more damage to your opponent than 750.

Some american players use about the same ammount for 2 snipers against medbunkering t2 players as a hard-counter for their infantry-based strat and I can see The Ace doing much more damage than 2 american snipers to that sort of strategy.

Balance Discussion / why do people need to win so much?
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:07:18 AM »
I understand that changes are still being made to the soviets and they are more of a work in progress as of now, but I am simply annoyed by how childish people can get, especially mid-noobish players who simply can't adapt to new circumstances so they completely dismiss the soviets and switch to axis because of fear of losing some games.

When the soviets came out and were completely and undeniably overpowered everyone whored them, and now that they are a little bit harder to play and casualties will actually impact the game more and more people are playing axis or giving up on EF as a whole.

So why do you need to win so badly? does it make your E-peen grow? Try them out, lose some games, figure out what they lack and what they have in ridiculous ammounts, get some skills with the new faction and recognize that everything isn't OP or UP, people simply outplay you. We didn't all learn how to play wehrmacht and american overnight.

General Discussion / has anyone had this problem
« on: January 31, 2010, 04:33:42 AM »
I was playing a 2v2 the other day and when the game started the graphics on the game went insane and instead of being able to see everything normally, there were huge glitchy triangles developing from all my units and the ground looked barren and it was like the seizure episode of pokemon, as everything was flashing and weird. I fixed it by resetting my graphics in game, but it was really annoying and very weird.
I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this, as i've never experienced in normal COH, and i've been playing since release.

i like these changes, some good ideas in there, especially about guards. Right now I think they are a bit ridiculous, as they are a hard counter to all the mg's you might have fielded to that point in the game.

getting a huge brit blob isn't a problem???? lol.

it is pretty fair, m8 costs 125 fuel,  pe p4 costs 150, stuart about the same ammount as the m8. All the while the russians don't use fuel for upgrades.

Balance Discussion / Re: Il-2 strafe/bomb run
« on: January 26, 2010, 07:19:21 AM »
this ability is completely ridiculous, i dont see how anyone would not see it as a problem, most of all, it's free.

Same goes for the god of war ability, 2-3 minutes of locking down a sector for free is just too much.

The sturmovik strafes and bombs, so your in for a world of hurt, even by your base sector. I lost 2 storms, 1 volk to different strafes and 2 stugs and 1 tiger to different bombing runs by my base...

If you know how to flank, then you should have no problem.

right now there is no way to stop them from taking the map way too early.

General Discussion / Re: How to counter snipers as Soviets
« on: January 25, 2010, 06:30:06 AM »
If your having trouble with snipers as soviets than I don't know what to tell you  ;D Go play some American I guess and learn how to flank. But with 8 men and a low reinforce cost for your infantry, it shouldn't be a problem, as he isn't draining enough manpower for what he paid for his sniper, and you have enough guys to chase him around even after hes taken 3-4 shots at you.
