Red Army Suggestions / Re: T34 a few Changes i.e Turret shape?
« on: January 22, 2010, 11:51:59 PM »
just a couple of questions:

you know perhaps, that there were various T34 types during the war?
you know the differences between T34/76 and T34/85, dont you ?
Then you may have noticed, that the tank you can produce from scratch is the T34/76 1943 variant ?

The tank you show, is the T34/85 , which is available AFTER the upgrade, and only for NEW produced units . Have you noticed that ?

You do ? Ok, then.

General Discussion / Re: First Patch

Totally agree to german steel. right now there simply cant be any serious balance issue. Its completely impossible.

If you ( and the community ) have played 50+ games,
then you are really used to a new faction and can finally
make a serious statement about balancing.

Its always the same " I loose, so its not balanced" crap, sorry. Its absolutely useless and even contraproductive
to bow down to whiners who have lost their first few games.

Dont care about early posts. maybe keep some stuff
in mind, let the official testers redo the situation, check for
mods data...  but ...

DONT PANIC. ;)

technically its possible to mod that, but as EF is only an
expansion for Vanilla CoH, I think we are not going to implement that because it would give the Soviet faction
an advantage that neither faction has. Wouldnt be fair. ;)

Eastern Front / Re: Waffen-SS & Panzer Elite
« on: August 17, 2009, 06:00:24 PM »
Quote from: Lord Rommel

So i think this equipment of the Panzer Elite was chosen because of the theater and the armysituation.
Normaly Waffe-SS gets better equipment then the Wehrmacht e.g. the Tiger:

The Waffen SS receiving the better equipment than the rest of the Wehrmacht... thats a long time myth. Wonder where
people got that from.. ?
Surely the  "Big 4" of the Waffen SS Divisions had good equipment. And yes, LAH, TK and DR had their own Tiger company in Mid War. But afterwards those were detached, and regrouped into the Heavy SS Tank Batllions 101,102 and 103 you named.

Otherwise, take a look equipment lists, compare any given SS Division to the Wehrmachts Divisions...  you wont find
anything "better" there. In contrary, Wehrmacht Elite Divisions like GD and Panzer Lehr were priotirized.

The two SS Panzerdivisions 9 and 10, who were stationed
in the Arnhem area for refitting as Market Garden began ( and this is where the PE is ) were heavily depleted from the Falaise
Pocket disaster and didnt have much new armour.
The Kampfgruppen were thrown together from very different units, trainees and even workers... SS, Heer and Luftwaffe units. So the PE does quite a nice job, reflecting that, with their outdated equipment. ;)

Mapping / Re: Kursk (4)
« on: August 12, 2009, 04:24:32 PM »
some general statements:

Played the map yesterday...the wall behind the the HQ 1 is a nuisance. Engineers have to bypass it to build there, which takes ages. please remove it or place holes in the wall.

Except of this, the layout of the map is quite good, but the overall terrain looks a little boring, imho.

Even though the Kursk area is quite flat, that doesnt necessarily mean, that theres nothing. use more
splats and grass types, to make the landscape more appealing. Use differenet kinds of trees,
this is no koniphere area.

Place munitions and defenses in and around the trenches, tell the story of the map.

its not enough to place roads ,some trees and wheat and you are good.

Generallly: I like the layouts of your maps, carpathia looks nice too, but you should work longer at them and
pay more attention to nature and details. look for reference photos and try to build that. small bushes, variaus grasses,
some scrubs near the trees make it look much more interesting. There are some good maps which show how to do that,
like Sphinx and Henrys maps. Try out different atmosphere settings to make it less dull.

Us the stamping tool. Got the tip from Henry, he has whole libaries of stamps with small setups he once made
and the uses in his maps. So once archived, so can have an interesting small tree are within seconds. need another one ?
stamp, again rotate and there you are.

here some examples, battefield of Prokhorovka

the nicer and more alive your map looks, the more people will play it. And thats the purpose for everyone who maps, right ? ;)

You are talking about packing the map in the first release, but when exactly is Eastern Front due out ? I know you still have plenty of things to do, but I'm not even sure "Berlin" will be ready the moment you come out.

be sure, it will.  ;)

Eastern Front / Re: Who was the best commander in WWII?
« on: December 15, 2008, 11:56:38 AM »
sorry, this List is more than incomplete

( the French Generals Name is Charles-Marte-Jules Tassin , the German Fieldmarshall
was called Gerd von Rundstedt, the US High Commader was Dwight D. Eisenhower )

MANY superior commanders are missing, while others ( what the heck does tassin there ? )
simply dont belong there...

US: definetively missing Bradley and McArthur
Germany: Model and Guderian could have been mentioned, von Manstein SHOULD

Eastern Front / Re: Did anyone actually win world war 2?
« on: December 15, 2008, 11:18:41 AM »
There are definetively some winners in World War II..

The USA and the Soviet Union both "won" something, they expanded their territory and influence
and became Superpowers. Looking at the price they had to pay, the US with some 600.000 casualties
and the Soviets with 20 Millions dead and their homeland tortured. So the USA is our clear winner.

Next to the "loosers" like Germany,Japan, Hungary and Italia there were
two others, who thought who won it: Great Britain and France. Both lost much of their influence,
a few years later they lost their oversea colonies, and they shrunk from global player to "some
european country"

Looking at the question who lost the war, you should say Germany and japan. But did they ?
10 years later both ( at least western germany ) were becoming important economies.

The real loosers of the war were the eastern european countries... first overrun or opressed
by germany, then annexed or made puppets of the Soviet union. They were occuoied for about 40 years
