Red Army Suggestions / English voice overs?
« on: March 23, 2010, 04:36:34 PM »
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the actual Russian being used, but given that I only "yes" and "no" in Russian, would it be possible to have a voice over with a Russian accent telling you when you're under attack, or when a squad is killed? As of right now, I have no idea what they're saying other than "SNIPER!"

I know it would be a lot of work, and if there's a subtitle option somewhere, I must have missed it...

I have to agree that the mortar team for the soviets is over powered. Mortars on both sides don't nearly have the same amount as punch as the soviet model.

One could argue that the rate of fire is slower, but if you're the type of person that knows how to clog up a player with plenty of conscripts, and don't care for friendly fire, you can really clean house with the conscript/mortar combo.

Secondly, I know the soviets are meant to zergling. Yes, they're very, very easy to suppress but I think their HP/Defense level is a bit to high for being ill equipped and poorly trained.

You have a choice, but both choices are free once you purchase the 200 ammo point upgrade at the armory.

Funny on there, joker.   ;)

Balance Discussion / Ammo point cost for Red Banner Infantry upgrades?
« on: March 22, 2010, 06:09:25 PM »
I couldn't find a topic on this, maybe my search-fu is a bit off, but if there is pre-existing topic please close this topic.

I find it interesting that the upgraded weapons don't cost anything for the Red Banner infantry. Sure you paid the 200 ammo point cost to upgrade them, but the weapons the selves are free. I find it odd that most units (except for the BARs for the American Infantry) that these weapons are free.

In my experience, you're generally able to unlock the upgrade in mid to late game when most people have tanks and other heavy weapons, but it strikes me as odd.

Can anyone give an explanation why they're free?

Suggestions / Re: German Propaganda vs. Soviets

I was thinking either a stun, or an effect to make infantry move really slow, like the Tommies without a lieutenant in enemy territory.

Suggestions / German Propaganda vs. Soviets

I know the Propaganda bombs vs. the soviets doesn't work due to a bug, but would it be possible once this bug is fixed to just lower their attack defense power and paralyze them in place and stop capping a point?

I'm thinking they shouldn't retreat because of the order that if anyone is retreating is to be shot on sight. I recognize the problem as this would make it all to easy to drop arty strikes on paralyzed infantry units.

Suggestions / Re: Remanning equipment as Soviets
« on: March 21, 2010, 04:52:07 AM »
I know it's a bug right now that relic needs to fix, but I don't think Conscripts should be able to re-man heavy weapons or pick up weapons left behind for balance reasons. But when it comes to any other unit taking up a population point, they should be able to re-man equipment.

It could be reasoned in game that "due to their poor training, they don't have time to figure out the weapons on the field".

Let me know what you think.

EDIT: I was just able to pick up a panzerschrek with one of my Red Banner units. Is this possible? I thought this was still bugged.

Suggestions / Re: Conscript Pop Petition
« on: March 21, 2010, 04:27:11 AM »
Hi guys, I'm new here and has everyone has said before:
"Great work on this mod!"

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand.

Personally, I think the zero pop cap is fine. The conscripts, especially the upgraded ones very early on are nothing more than canon fodder and have a difficult time taking out other squads.

I don't know what this "true spirit of CoH" talk is all about by not having these units gain levels by keeping them alive. It's a new army, offering a new strategy. I know most (if not all) infantry units can be upgraded at the armory, but personally I don't think conscripts should be able to level up/upgrade at all if their purpose is to just flood the battlefield and your focus should be later in game to keep your more expensive troops alive.

Just my two cents.
