[1.4] Kv-2 tank Limit

I'm not sure if this has already been said, so i'll say it anyway-

When playing against AI, I have noticed that (with enough manpower) a player can just spam out this heavy arty tank.

Although the tank is not very strong against tanks on its own, these can be grouped together and used as an unstoppable group that can destroy even the tiger in a few seconds (with enough of the tanks).

AT guns and infantry don't fair too much better when a barrage of the shells fall on them.

I was just wondering if a limit could be placed on the number of KV-2 tanks players can deploy to the battlefeild to, say, 3?

I'm not sure if this is still applicable in multiplayer games as i have only ever experienced it against AI.

KV-2s are slow. AT guns, and I'm sure most tank guns outrange them. Most tanks outpace even their turret rotation. You just need to up your game :P

Thanks, but i have to say that although slow, they can take a few hits.

And even then they are able to just drvie past most tanks and destroy the HQ without losing too many tanks. (providing the attacker has spammed out quite a few). it happened to me against AI expert.

As English i had a 17 punder wall and a few lines of defence including a bunch of fireflies but the KV 2 just drove through. considering there were 20 odd of them, i really could not stop it breaking throuhg and messing up my base completely.

also, i guess that that the problem would be solved by playing with pop-cap, but even so, it's really annoying to see your defences and base destroyed easily when it would be more of a struggle if using any other faction or tank.

I just feel a limit should be placed.

Regardless of how slow the tank is.

U can easily circle the one KV u fight in PvP, but circleing AIs 5 KV-Blob is just impossible. Guess a Limit of 2-3 wouldnt hurt anyone regarding PvP.

camo a vet3 pak in the front and a vet3 pak from the side and then use blitzkrieg assault! The pak will shot faster than the reload animation.

This is heavy tank, so it should have limit, let's see, to 2? I remember when in 1.3, PvsP, i built three KVs 2, i thought that i was to much. German players had problems with kill it, they also bought panthers to kill it, but my partner had AT cannons, so it was easy defend KV 2.

I would say limit of 3 so its in line with the priest.

However to be absolutely honest: I do NOT see the KV 2 as a problem, sorry. If you cant knock it out with stealthy Paks or ridiculously long ranged Marder IIIs you must be a n(*.*)b or worse...

Heavy tank? as in like a Pershing or a Panther? Don't make me laugh. The only thing heavy about it is the way it moves. Think of it like an AVRE.

To be fair, heavy tank refers to it's tonnage. A Churchill is a heavy tank while both a Panther and Pershing are not. I don't see an issue here. This is an AI issue rather than a balance issue. If you play against computers on no-popcap then don't expect there to be balance.

Limits are not usually given in PvP matches anyway. It is either extremely difficult or impossible to limit a CPU's limit but not a player's.

AI's are known to spam doctrinal units on a regular basis and this is not an issue in PVP games as Dennis said. Call-ins shouldn't be hardcapped just because of some compstomping.

IIRC only 1 person had agreed with you, and the general public had dismissed the claim because it's an AI.

An AI doesn't really constitute for balance because they have a higher resource income and spam doctrinal units because of hard-coded bug. Soviets spam for a different reason but I'm not explaining it for the gazillionth time.

Placing a hard cap on a unit that the AI spams for players too is just not fair. Unless you place the cap ONLY for AI's then your upsetting balance.

In normal PVP matches you rarely even SEE a KV-2, let alone 4...

Instead of placing hard-caps I think that the AI should just be de-bugged and fixed rather than trying to find away around this.
