first contact with coh

Hi everybody. let me tell you what was my first contact with COH.

I had several choice, but one was called Elite. Panzer elite ? Probably they will beat everyone. Lets go.
I start quietly until I needed an assault panzergrenadiers squad.
Where are you ? they can be recruit in a factory that build panzer ? Strange, but why not.

Train me a squad I ask to my staff officer.
.... But what s the f..k ? I see an activity Inside the factory, machine Tools started, welding flash lighted Inside. I was scared. I asked for men, they build a Terminator squad. Skynet had take control. I had to flee.

Then I chose Brits. No risk with brits isnt it ? It a country of traditions ?

Ok I start with a truck ... or a lorry, I dont know. You cant do anything without an officer said a voice.
Ok, lets train an officer. We need 15 fuel barrels Sir. Fuel ? I beg you pardon ? I thing you would say 15 bottles of scotch whiskey ?
I will investigate. Yes my lieutnant was at the bar, drinking fuel. At the end, like every british officer I took a pipe from its Pocket. I have fled as fast as possible ...

Disguted, I tried Wehrmacht. Wonderful, everybody can be heal. No other can do this. Is it really historical ? Didnt Heydrich died because of lack of adequate medecine like peniciline ? Bah forget this. First fight, first wounded. The squad leader came to me and asked. " I need 30 ammo."
-What to do did I replyed.
- I need it to heal my men.
- You re kidding? You want grenades, 7.92 mauser and 9 mm parabellum bullets to heal your men?
- Yes.
Ok take it.
1 minutes later I heard gun shoots, and a bit later the unterunoffizier was in front of me. "I have no more wounded" he said.

hmmm. I have waited for him to leave, then asked to my staff officer.

- Where does he learn  first aid ?
- during a national medical program, If I remember correctly... Aktion T4 or something like that.

Indeed, there are many aspects to Company of Heroes which make little to no sense. But unfortunately, there are times when our beautiful young virgin Realism has to be sacrificed to our benevolent overlords, the Balance Gods, lest they become justly angered and break The Holy Game.

There are some peculiarities you'll just have to accept in order to enjoy the game.

Really It s rather a long time I play coh. That was just a diiferent way to make presentations.

I agree with you for balance over realism.

otherwise I more a solo player than something else. That s why I look at EF that have a good reputation about AI.

Well then, welcome to Eastern Front, i guess.

This is, at least in my humble opinion, one of the best mods for CoH (but of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so some may disagree, but i digress...), however if all you're interested in is the A.I., might i recommend the original Company of Heroes? It's quite hard to find nowadays, but if you can secure a copy it'll be well worth it -- The A.I. was generally much better, providing a good challenge without feeling like it's cheating, and certain gameplay elements like the Calliope having its main gun are well desirable, too. The only thing of note that the original game lacks is the World Builder, which is disappointing for those of us who like to make maps.

Company of Heroes really was a different game before Opposing Fronts ruined our fun.
