A ww2 French mod
« on: November 13, 2009, 07:28:17 AM »
I would like to announce that me and a few friends will ATTEMPT to make a ww2 French mod.
The French army will be a part of the English Army and will be another base truck for the English. The French will not be their own nation.

We will add the following fire arms into the game:
1.) Berthier ww2 edition bolt action rifle
2.) MAB model D hand gun
3.) Mas-38 sub machine gun
4.) Hotchkiss M1922 light machine gun
5.) FM 24/29 light machine gun
6.) Hotchkiss M1914 heavy machine gun

We will also add some tanks:
1.) Hotchkiss (reskin) (light tank)
2.) B1 Bis (medium)
3.) Char 2C (heavy)
4.) Renault (light) (35 edition)
5.) Somua S35 (medium?)

tell us what you think of the new things we will be adding. I will post more of the units in time.

Post Merge: November 12, 2009, 11:46:13 PM
I have two more vehicles for transport and armored car:
1.) Panhard 178 (armored car)
2.) Renault EU Chenillette (a Bren carrier thing)

Its a nice idea as I've never seen the French in any WWII games since...Blitzkrieg I think. They actually had really good tanks, just used outdated tactics which lead to such a speedy defeat.

Just not really sure how it could be implemented gameplay wise. Surely the addition of a "french truck" would give the Commonwealth (which wouldnt be the commonwealth anymore) more like "Early War Allies" or something. Anyway they'd have far too many units which were just duplicates of each other.

What might be cooler would be a "Battle of France" mod. Like a separate BotB kind of project. Including the French Army and an Early War German Side. Panzer I, II and III. Sig 33's etc.

Just ideas anywho.
Good luck  :)

NO no no no no this is just going to be a mod that is to see if my team is good enough for making other mods. This mod is to just make a couple of tanks, some infrantry, and artirly.
After this we are hoping of making a "axis commenwelth" comprised of the Italians, Romanians and possible Finland and maybe the Spanish "blue division"

The french had better tanks than the germans.
  - Bigger caliber guns, better amor.
  - Germans had : 1 radio PER tank, better optics and 88FlakAT
The French had a lot more of them.
The French had way more soldiers.
The French's president and Marshal were so old as to
practically be in their deathbeds. And they just about
court-marshalled DeGaulle on the spot, who was the only
french general to have ANY results at all hurting the
Germans :) - Hey, French had some bad luck.
Belgiums wouldn't let 'em in. AND Germans also managed
a lightning strike through intensely mined/trapped/
canyon/defended area and brought like 2 armies through
 in like 4 hrs...

... And, now, before you insult the French...
The whole $#@(* British army was there, TOO!

Both defeated in like 4 days :)

... Oh, Hitler didn't even use his whole army...

 ...

Politics and military... doesn't mix... :)

You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity

well
1.) the mod died (our 3d artist quit  >:(
2.) yes the French did have better tanks than the Germans but used them in the stupidest way possible, they put a couple of tanks in each infantry section to spread them out, while the Germans had "panzer divisions" divisions of tanks, the French were just using WW1 tactics with their tanks

Eh, I know. DeGaulle had been raving about it nonstop.
And when he stole tons of tanks to counterattack the
Germans 'panzer division style' he was almost court-martialed.
He's the only one who hurt the germans in any way.

Stupidest way? No. Just outdated. Eh. French *AND*
British were there. Remember. Just the french tanks
outnumbered the german ones by a lot, eh. Same with
Russians. More troops, more tanks. More planes. The
germans caught them at that magical moment where
Stalin was shooting dead most of his own generals.

Voop_Bakon : Would my posts be more interesting if I
limited them to 3-4 page long quotes like Ford followed
 by 'lol' ? :)

Hey, I'm passionnate, and I want to play. Plus the SC2
game is teasing me no end. 'Soon' meaning 2 years down
the road (and more!) Must... kill... stuff... arrg
