[1.04] I have noticed a few issues...
« on: February 12, 2010, 11:59:27 PM »
Hey guys,

First off, I'd like to thank the EF development team for creating this mod. I'm a huge fan of CoH and have been for over a year and I have always wondered how awesome it would be to play a CoH game based on the Eastern Front of WWII. I actually just stumbled upon this mod and when I did I was excited to give it a try. After playing several skirmish games I'd have to say I am very very satisfied for the most part. However, I do have a few issues with the gameplay that I'd like to see be dealt with:

Issues:

- I've noticed on several occasions that T-34/76 shells DO NOT bounce off the frontal armor of a Tiger I and they should, the T-34/76s do more damage than they should to Tigers when they hit them in the front. - This issue is the one I'm most concerned about, please have it fixed.

- The T-34's seem to have alittle too much frontal armor, I witnessed one incident where a locked down Marder III shot bounced right off with little effect when it fired at the front of a T-34/76.

- I witnessed one time that it took about 7 - 9 hits from a locked down Marder III to take out an IS-2 tank with full health and they were all rear armor hits, that seems alittle too much. It would take only like 5 rear armor hits at the most for a locked down Marder III to destroy an M26 w/ full health.

- Panzer Elite units appear to get 2 promotions immediately when they destroy just one SU-85/100 tank. I like the promotions but the SU-85/100's aren't tough to kill, they aren't suppose to be for a Panther and it gets 2 promotions at the same time for killing one. It would be more appropriate if 2 promotions are awarded like that for killing something much stronger like an ISU-152.

Anyway, this seems to be all of the issues I've noticed with the gameplay so far. Other than that I'm having alot of fun with the mod, I can tell I'll be playing this mod for a while.

The Soviet faction is well designed and IMO accurately represents the real Soviet Red Army from WWII. They are tougher and more challenging than the Americans and the British IMO but I'm perfectly fine with that because in reality they were a bigger challenge for the Germans. The EF maps are very well designed and I have been having a lot of fun with them, would like to seem more in the future. Once again, the mod is great however I would like to see the issues I've noticed be dealt with (at least the one about the T-34 doing too much frontal armor damage to a Tiger).

Thanks in advance.

- This isn't about realism... The Tiger has a huge front armor but the 34/76 has a small chance to get through... its called game mechanics... micro your tiger better...

- The frontal armor is not that high, you just happened to get that unlucky chance of it bouncing all the time... I have had two marders take down 5 T-34s before loosing one...

- The IS-2 is a very expensive tank.... live with it... the damage has a range and you probably got the minimum end often... its all chance....

- Why does this matter? the SU-85 and SU-100 have a bonus modifier against heavy armor such as Panthers and Tigers... they are extremely powerful and have long range... they are not supposed to be front line assault troops anyway.. support them better...

All in all, change your tactics because these are not the Americans or British ...  you need to learn to adapt... and your complaints are irrational because you have had a few unlucky experiences... deal...

Yes and troops with птрс for laughter were made? after all they unapt even бтр podbiti. shorter wait following патч where will is in more detail thought-out

I have the updated 1.04 version installed. I'm playing the mod some more to see if I experience some of these issues more often.

One more issue I had come across, it's the SU-100. To begin, it looks no different from an SU-85. Well, the only difference in looks was the longer gun but that is not present in my game, the gun length is the exact same as the 85. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, the damage and armor don't really seem to be increased that much. The difference between the SU-85 and 100 just doesn't seem as noticeable as the difference between the T-34/76 and T-34/85. Will the SU-100 be fixed in upcoming patches?

Afternoon,

It is in my opinion that the IS2 should be the heavy call-in tank for the soviets.  The D-25t gun that it is armed with was the best armor penetrating gun in their army.  It does not make sense that the ISU-152 does more damage seeing as it uses the same howitzer as the KV2, however uses two-piece rounds (AT included).  The ISU-152-1 and 2 were never released into production and neither was the 1945 version as a heavy tank destroyer. In addition, it also does not make sense why it has more armor.  Looking at the actual thickness of the armor, they are the same, minus the fact the IS2 had thicker frontal armor. If the IS2 became a call-in tank, it's mass production in gameplay would not dwarf the entire battlefield and restore some balance.

considering that you posted into a patch [1.04] topic i guess you have that version. but that is outdated by now (we have 1.23).
Jagd[tiger] is a buildable replacement for the Kettenkrad... It can cloak and cap points. :P

Wrong topic dude... Also, there won't be any change for the soviet faction besides the inclusion of reward units(or at least not what you comment). Topic Locked.

Mors Indecepta

Might controls everything, and without strength you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself...
