Man, that's involuntary manslaughter that you posted that here!

I fucking hate Celebrities and people who adore them. I hate Hannah Montana. I hate little kids singing  being unable to sing without Auto-Tune corrections. I hate mainstream music.

Now my ears bleed but I feel much better, thanks.

I dislike both of them.

I recently read an article that Rebecca Black was bullied out of school cause everyone was making fun of her horrid song. She decided to get home schooled and to focus on her "career". My answer to this article was a short pause followed by, since when can animals go to school.

In my opinion modern pop music is shit, whether it be Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Justin Beaver, or anything else from that genre, and area. There words are empty and worthless, and unlike real music it has no true soul. Its designed to be easily sung and use as few large words so the morons who sing them can easily remember their words. My music has feelings and soul, it implores thought and wonder. These "musicians" have naught but looks (some of them only) or a strange condition (Bieber's inability to go through puberty or Lady Gaga's inability to comprehend how to look like a Human being while singing) and can't actually sing in any possible way.

You're speaking from the depth of my heart, thank you. Modern pop/rnb/dance music is all the same, they use a word pool of a maximum of 50 words to say the same on a different melody. It's all about party and love and such things but it isn't unique anymore and everything sounds more or less the same.
When I turn on my radio, I start to get agressive sometimes because that mainstream bullshit annoys me.
Sure, there are some positive, unique examples in those genres, but mostly it's like I described above. People have to start to think about what's the sense of life except of partying and shallow stuff, but that's leading too far..
Just my opinion.

Glad to know this forum has sense.

This is a reason why I really only listen to classical music and classic rock.

And Rebecca Black's career? What a pretentious joke, spouting this crap as if it's important and real. This takes no effort and has no worth.  Music is supposed to be an art form, mainstream modern music isn't it. It's all about money and record deals.

Well as an American, I am often taken aback, by what my nation calls music, and culture in general. Most modern Western societies are shallow and worthless because they are to scared to look beyond their little worlds. There music as well as there lifestyles reflect that. Anyone ever hear of Jersey Shore? Well when i first heard of it, I was immediately disgusted by it, because all it was making stupid people feel better about being stupid and promoting their worthless habits.

Anyway what kind of music do you guys listen to?

I love The Rolling Stones, Guns n' Roses (early), Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Gorillaz (especially the Plastic Beach and post stuff), Journey, TV on the Radio, Puddle of Mudd, Led Zepplin, CCR, and Cage the Elephant. All the songs I listen to have point and reason.

And for something to prove my point:Gorillaz - Rhinestone Eyes Official Video

Don't forget what Rhinestones are :)

The hardest question is not choose which of those bleed our ear most, but why nowaday kids think Hannah Monata, Justin Bieber are cool, are "stars", their parents failed big time.
I'm drunk now, I'm outranked you in philosophy.

Its cause they don't take part in their lives as much as they should. My parents really didn't take care of me and I grew up with my super Soviet grandparents, who chiseled into me a love of real music, chess, and thought. Also helps that i never had Disney channel or Nickelodeon as a kid (used to cry when that crackpot nudist Spongebob came on the tube)

I completely agree, but you have to admit these people have played the popculture game pretty well. They knew what it took to turn our youth into suckers and they went in for the kill. Very cunning indeed.

By the way as for myself Im into MUCH older music. Admittedly it wasn't until I played games like Mafia II, and Fallout 3/New Vegas that I came to truely enjoy artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Bing Crosby.

Some ppl theorize that this new wave of "life less" and leisurely attitude and music came after 9/11 because of the desire to find something to alleviate the feeling of sadness. Unfortunately, like drugs, it stayed with us after we tried it :'(. Btw I am an American so I (sorta) know what Im talking about ;D. And none of these songs make my ears bleed :P. I just stop watchng it b4 that happens ;D

Sort of. In Europe I think music began to become shallow with the beginning of the new millenium. I don't know the exact reason for that, but I see a clear line splitting good music from bad music (with some exclusions of course) in 2005/2006. I love the music of the 80s and 90s, especially bands like Depeche Mode and Camouflage. I also love the music of Gigi D'Agostino and other stuff like that, not only because it reminds me of my childhood.

Anyway what kind of music do you guys listen to?

Today, I hear pretty much everything except of shallow mainstream music such as Pop, RnB and Dance. I like German Underground Rap for example but not that what you know as Gangsta Rap. I also like some Metal bands such as Sabaton.
The most mainstream music I hear is Linkin Park I think.

Recently the english charts have been full of crap, with a very recent example of 'Cher Lloyd-swagger  jagger'.

However, I must dissagree with the idea that all music in the charts is rubbish and that none of it should be deemed good enough to listen to.

For example, although my taste in music is very metal oriented (due to my brother becoming involved with bands and the such when I was around 14), I really like Plan B's newer album and yet his first is typically everything wrong with music.

It is just unfortunate that it has caused many children to follow it almost religiously due to almost every music channel or radio station playing the set genre which consistly mainly of cack.

Not trying to be an ass to anyone, but the few Linkin Park songs I can tolerate are the more controlled ones, I.E. Bleed it Out (Not much screaming in that), Minutes to Midnight, stuff like that, while the more Nu Metal and Rap influenced ones I try to avoid, mainly cause I don't really like how they blend there music styles.

If anything my favorite band of this (2000-2010) era has been the Foo Fighters cause they keep on going (also I love Grohl, he is a god to me) and releasing new material, most of which is just awesome.
