Ploiesti Refinery (4)

3rd most important strategic region of Axis was Ploiesti Oil Refinery, which produced about 40% of fuel that Geramny needed to run their tanks, planes and other stuff. It was also one of the most heavily defended place against air attack, and defences were consisting fighters and hundreds FlaK cannons. Due to Tidal Wave operation, US heavy bombers damaged refiery really hard, though it didn't stopped working.

In August 1944, Soviet forces entered nearby area.

This is what I'm basing on.

Will there be improvised defenses and perhaps some set tank traps in the Refinery itself was there not enough time for the Germans to prepare for this particular attack?

Pleace put all the fuel in the refinery. And the mun next to the flak cannons. that would be nice  :D

obviously yes :) also I'll try to hide some AA guns around the refinery, like 88s hidden in haystacks. Also refinery will be in bad shape so it will be pretty hard place to fight - many flanking possibilities, big fuel tanks reducing distance to target, many chokepoints...

Interesting choice, look forward to it. How are you going to tackle making the large fuel tanks?

there's already building called "silo" in Normandy Industrial. I'll just edit them, add some rubble and ready.

This is early project how will the refinery look like. I'll add more pipes later, for now I'm making experiments with some objects to make it look real.

this is Refinery's power plant. I guess construction like this requires tremendous amounts of energy.



Some of Refinery buildings. You surely will notice that it's a little less crampy than on the picture I'm basing on. Well, in CoH infantry and tanks can't move under pipes ( at least some of them) or even stupid gantry stops their movement. That's why I decided to make a lot of more space to make map more gamey :) Also those constructions offer a lot of potential flanking ways, mostly for infantry. And that's why tanks shouldn't drive to refinery.



Overall progress. As you can see I'm leaving texturing the ground at the end. Maybe this will increase chances of WB working properly.
