floki you seem to have disappeared from my friends list on steam, maybe its me as my internet has a fault at the minute :( engineer coming monday.

So I can help clear up any confusion, I am retiring from my position within the mod. It's nothing personal with the Mod Team or Any of the Applicants. I have exerted enormous amounts of time with it, and I have two other projects, I am working on. I am working on a Radio Drama with a colleague, that I am currently trying to pitch to http://nepr.net/ and it comes with a lot of responsibility (Directing, Writing, Casting, Sound Editing, etc...) and I am working on an Indie JRPG (Web Development HTML 5, Coding in C#) with a couple of other colleagues. So out of the three I choose to let go of Eastern Front as I didn't think it was the one that fit with my personal self-interest. I also have a full-time job and a family with children, that need attention as well... so time is of value.

As I have now tried my best to remove my presence from the "Social Media" portions of the mod, to regain a little sense of privacy. For awhile, I was getting a higher amount of friend requests on Facebook and Steam because of people wanting to know more about the mod. I think the mod will be released fine, when it does, these guys are doing a bang up job at releasing something that will give the original game a few more points worth of value. Sadly, I don't think it's something I can continue to invest my time in, however I wish I could. All future, EF questions should be forwarded to Hendrik 'DarcReaver' S. He is the head of balancing for the Eastern Front mod development team. He has a list of everyone who applied.

Maybe to make it easier/faster process we should consider the option of using replays.
So the candidates can give us a PvP replay where they play vs equally skilled opponent.

would be a hell of a lot of work going thru random replays without guides as to what to look for, good as a starting point but some subtleties won't show up.
one thing that has concerned me often is ability of certain sides to acquire armour a bit faster than OST can come up with anything to compensate, this to me seems a purely balance issue, once known an opposing player simply levels up to that kind of armour then goes on the offensive meaning what ever strategy is picked is futile.
To show this point i have been trying to get replays to display this but giving my social circle a sure fire way to beat me every time seems a bit of a no go lol

General Discussion / Re: POP Cap
« on: January 29, 2015, 12:25:15 PM »
yeah that's roughly what i was on about,
i just wondered if it was an issue down to a occasionally called conditional loop relying on a counter within the engine that could be compensated for by a large fixed constant number.
we do get occasional abrupt endings to games but suspect it is down to our poor net connections, might try on standard popcaps to see if that disappears :)

General Discussion / POP Cap

A while ago i noticed that removal of popcap is not officially supported yet to speed the game up my  friend and i tried it quite successfully and continue to play this style,
is the lack of support due to a programming reason?
just wondering if that could be solved by either increasing multipliers on points or maybe  putting a very high limit?

steam name is mdbuk, not sure of skill level as tend to play little but have played rts since dune2
With EF I tend to focus on one map (alsace moselle ) as OST.
Would like to help you guys out as feel EF is a rare example of why PC is superior to any other platform for gaming.

tbh i don't think coh2 was much of a hit, more like the fact last year the mod was only working for a couple of months due to changes in vanilla from steam conversion.

just to add to the above, you need to launch the game using the eastern front launcher, not the coh one.

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: Buff Beutepanzer
« on: December 07, 2014, 02:37:21 PM »
got to agree with a lot of points here, the beautepanzer and hence famo is pretty useless and yet could be a wonderful addition, the way i see the problems

1. Cost, you use the factory to produce this at cost sacrificing one tank build,  famo also accumulates cost in repair and recovery procedure so enemy will have built another tank by then.

2. time, it takes ages to recover then repair, you could have built a tank or two back at base and the enemy most certainly will have.

3. practicality, as 132 said most wrecks are flattened before the famo can get there,IME its rare to get more than one (or two against a noob who single tank rushes) recoveries before death of unit, and considering cost of build, recovery and repair the unpredictable nature of the process(ie are any wrecks going to be able to be recovered?) its a bit of a waste of build space so far.

The only practical solution is make sure total cost of build of famo, recovery of beautepanzer and repair is less than production of new tank to compensate for reduced speed/damagepoints/hitpoints etc the reasons above make it necessary to implement those reductions( maybe 10%?)
