Sicilia
« on: May 15, 2011, 10:31:48 PM »
I was thinking of making a new map based in Sicily, and I made a few things for the map. I have never made a map for anywhere but Normandy before, so I was wondering if these were okay.
Here are pics of the items:

And you may have noticed this, but I have put almost no splats on the map. Those will be added later, when more is done.

You got it! The red-roofed Holland houses, the cypresses, the light rocks and the plantages create indeed a mediterran-seeming atmosphere.
I like what I see, and I still want to see more  :D

One thing: Try to avoid using green grass textures, as the grass in Sicilia was more yellow-looking I guess. But that's just my small, unimportant opinion. :)

It doesn't look quite as good with with yellow grass. Maybe it's just me, because I was used to seeing it as green. What do you think though?

Actually, I tried putting the tiling on with a mix of green too. Here is the picture of that (second one):

Seriously, I think it looks better with yellow grass, seen on your last screenshot. It will look even better with splats on it (that you have to add yet, as you stated), for example rock_spec_field or hay debris ore dry_grass _area or whatever you like. Just keep going, with or without yellow grass :)

Here is the same section with yellow grass texture, splats, effects, and grass. I just have a few more items to stamp, and then I will start with the actual map.
